Bit late for Summer Solstice but...
Solstice Surrender
Light thrown, warmth sown.
Fields sprinkled with bliss.
Sol seizes her solstice crown
But silence haunts the chorus.
Golden net wide and thick
Stretched across the cold quiet,
Soothe the air like perfumed silk
Fabric strained and tight.
Her flame’s focus waxes full
Makes memories with its rays
Of dances in sun blushed dells
For coming ice pinched days.
She bursts with triumph
At her moment of splendour.
She pushes the stirring sigh
Forcing night into a corner.
Sol accepts her slow decline
With practiced poise and grace.
She frets as we throw our time
From her watch point in space.
Till the soil, gather memories.
The luxury of thickest light
Holds fast to its promise,
To relinquish to the night.
