What do you think conscience is?

We have that little thing in our minds telling us what we are doing is right or wrong. What is it? Is it our intuition? Is it God? What do you think?

I often reflect on it but I haven't come up with anything.

There isn't one answer

A part of our primate evolution (at least for non-psychopaths)
Social conditioning (and the limits of this is obvious)
A tool egregores and hostile beings can exploit to control you (there's where your 'god' comes in)

I think this covers it.... Perhaps sometimes intuition/the higher self can give guidance that might fall under the umbrella also

Intuition is unconscious recognition of known patterns.

Conscience is very similar, it is unconscious recognition of known consequences and internal evaluation of the intended or done actions.

What do you think conscience is?
