I was recently laid off, and I would love to know what work helped you all receive and maintain the wealth that you have or any work that has helped you secure a new job during these difficult times.

Honest advice: don't try to get a normal job, and don't insult magick by doing so.

Before trying to throw magick at things, figure out a talent or calling you have to do something. It doesn't have to be grand, it could be something like writing about niche philosophical topics, restoring old works of art or books, or just painting and making interesting art or artifacts. Something that has nothing to do with magick whatsoever, except maybe tangentially. Maybe you have a vast knowledge database relating to antique jewelry or Russian stacking dolls, I don't know, but you know.

Once you figure that out, start putting it out there. Do a little marketing maybe, but put out your work. Eventually somebody will find it interesting and will start paying you for it. Demand a price that fits your labor and the quality of your work, and somebody will pay it. Use magick to encourage that to grow, or to help you gain inspiration for this work.

Or else, try to conjure a lottery win or massive stock market gains and crypto stuff. Some people do it that way, and it totally works. Don't listen to the naysayers who insist that it's impossible to accomplish these things using magick. They just haven't tried for fear of failure, or else because they are afraid of success, which is an even scarier concept for most people.

I like Jason Miller's "Financial Sorcery" (in the Library), gives much commonsensical advice on a mundane level. There are lots of money-related threads in this forum already, just browse or use the search function.

For example:

I can't say I fully agree with the advice of "don't try to get a normal job". While I personally love the idea about being able to develop a skill that could then be marketed toward people who might pay you, it is incredibly circumstantial to assume that this path is available for everyone. Before even involving magick into this discussion, it might help to take stock of your personal financial situation. If you have enough "fuck you" money stashed away for at least 1.5 - 2 years worth of living expenses, then what cormundum says can be achieved without needing a normal job to keep yourself afloat. If you don't have that, then you will need to develop that skill / selling that skill as a side hustle before it can turn into your main source of income. I personally think that this line of thinking is incredibly dangerous for most people to take unless if they carefully analyse where they are with their finances. And this is before we talk about magick.

For magick, if you want to go after employment / a normal job, you can take the advice of what others have said. Jason Miller's work is great and will serve you well. In my own experiences, I have used "The Magickal Job Seeker" by Damon Brand to some success. It contains a get set of rituals and a rough process to get you on the right path. However, my greatest success came from my workings with Orobas to secure a specific job. When I got the interview opportunity, I use the methods in "Demons of Magick" by Gordon Winterfield to bless the interview process so that I could secure the job. And despite screwing up on one of the interview stages, I still got the job. So demonic magick for me has worked quite well and looking for a job is just the kind of material thing that demons are very good in. You might consider Paimon, Orobas, or Bune as 3 good spirits who can get the job done.

If you are going down the route that Cormundun suggested, then you need to choose a different magical approach. In this case, I believe you would want to consider a two-fold approach: blessing your own efforts to learn the skill you intend to sell and to bless your efforts to get yourself known. So spirits such as Vapula and Asmodai could be good spirits from the 72 Goetic spirits to help you with making your learning process quicker and more effective. For your marketing, you need to consider what sort of business area your skill applies to. For things related to commerce and industry, Paimon is quite effective. If it is the arts or something created, you would need to choose another spirit potentially to help you out.

If you are looking for general prosperity, then you should use a working that would generally open up the flow of prosperity into your life. Take a look into the concept of "macro / micro-enchantments" that Jason Miller gives in his "Elements of Spellcasting" book. The basic idea is that you use a big working (ie the marco-enchantment) to get the floodgate open and then you use micro-enchantments to increase the effectiveness of individual aspects of your situation. A great example of a macro-enchantment could be undergoing the process of "Wealth Magick" by Damon Brand. It is a 6-7 month series of works that are meant to open up the flow of wealth into your life and is a good general marco-enchantment to make your reality susceptible to prosperity. You could also consider other workings such as creating an ongoing working with a powerful spirit like Belial or the angels of omnipotence (e.g. Elubatel) to achieve a similar effect. Once you have done the marco-enchantment, you then move on to the micro-enchantment section. If you are looking for a job, you might use a working to get your CV noticed by people, another working to meet the right people, and then maybe another working to give a good interview. You need to break down the situation, analyze it into chunks that you can improve with magick, and then choose the right magick.

In this entire diatribe, I admit I am inspired a lot by GoM styled books and Jason Miller's works. But I have experienced success with them, which is why I suggest them. However, you can choose other workings / spirits / rituals that fit with your beliefs more. But above all else, please consider the common sense perspective of your mundane physical situation before deciding on a path forward with magick. Some paths can be riskier than others if your situation is a certain way. If you feel the desire to embrace the risk, then by all means pursue it. Magick can help regardless of the way you choose, but you still need to be smart about how you approach it since everything always starts with your actions.
