Does anyone has knowledge or experience with using Matcha tea in occult work?

I've noticed that it keeps pushing me into altered state when i drink Matcha. It really seems to kick in, so I've became curious if there is some magic or mystic use of it that is already known.

Well I have been using tea qi for qi cultivation, meditation support and I also use it for sacraments and offerings.

Certain teas can lead to tea drunkenness. For some people it feels like high/stoned for other it’s more like inebriety. For me it’s the latter.

Teas that are known to cause this are types of green tea especially matcha as well as sheng puerh. So when you feel an altered state ox consciousness it might be tea drunkenness.

Matcha is used In traditional Japanese tea ceremonies (chado) to cultivate tranquility, respect, and a sense of harmony. It was historically used by monks for long meditation sessions to stay alert yet relaxed. The amino acid L-theanine promotes relaxation without causing drowsiness by increasing alpha brainwave activity, while the caffeine provides energy. This combination leads to a state of calm focus, improved attention, and sustained energy. L-theanine can significantly increase the amount of time spent in REM sleep. REM sleep is when vivid dreams occur, making it a crucial stage for dream recall and lucidity. Basically it makes dreams more vivid and real, which as long as you aren’t prone to night terrors or sleep paralysis is useful. It is also a potent spell ingredient for rituals focused on mental clarity, healing, prosperity, cleansing/protection from negative energy, and spiritual connection.🦇✨

That's probably what it is in my case. You can take a note and test it, I've noticed that it goes way stronger when I drink Matcha with full fat milk. Matcha without any milk has effect too, but lower.

I like the meditation support idea. Since it makes me more passive, meditation support sounds quite workable.

Personally i love drinking Gong Fu style, Oolongs being my favourite. The practice of brewing tea constantly like that is very calming of a ritual-esque set of actions akin to when i used to smoke, i'd roll my own cigs because i had more control over it and it gave me something to focus on.
Sort of like a stoic meditory/trance-like/in-the-zone type state.

Absolutely yes for me, my body has become very sensitive to substances that effect body functions these past few years, as such, i can't handle a cup of coffee anymore ;~;
I LOVE COFFEE AND NOW I CAN'T HAVE IT
....decaf just isn't the same.... it's sour....
But yeah, good Cha gets me high.

I thought I should post something on the matter on the off chance it helps someone or piques their interest.

As HellenaHex noted, the amino acid L-theanine likely plays a significant role, as it can cross the blood-brain barrier and produce several beneficial psychotropic effects. Early studies suggest it may be a helpful adjunct for combating anxiety and stress due to its anxiolytic properties.

For those who can't stomach matcha or tea generally, L-theanine is readily available in powdered or capsule form as a dietary supplement. It's commonly used in nootropic communities, especially when combined with caffeine, as they work synergistically together. Notably, it can help mitigate the jittery effects of caffeine consumption, providing cleaner focus. As an absolute coffee fiend, I've certainly experienced this benefit anecdotally.

A nice advantage of supplementation is that you don't need to consume large amounts of green tea to access its benefits. The average cup of green tea contains anywhere between 5-25mg of L-theanine, whereas supplements allow you to easily ingest higher doses, 200mg being the typical starting amount. Many find it helpful for dream work, as HellenaHex mentioned. By taking it as a supplement before bed, you not only get higher concentrations of L-theanine but also avoid the caffeine that comes with drinking green tea.

I don't know about pills. I'm not really pro supplements unless it's needed for physical health. (I take two that help me greatly)

I think that pills for helping one to dream should not be first option to try. Also I have that thought that this chemistry, either in tea or pill, is just a supplement to enhance what you already have or do. Like giving oil into engine, but never starting it doesn't change anything. Counting that one pills goes for 8 strong teas... should not be overdose, but too much of anything is harmful. Even tea...

I completely understand your stance on supplementation. In matters of taste, there can be no dispute. :)

Your engine analogy is well said. All good things are sold to us at the price of labor, and no supplement can replace that labor. Therefore, meditation, dream yoga, and adjacent practices should always be the first port of call for any practitioner dedicated to their craft. L-theanine is merely a tool in the toolkit for those who wish to use it. What creatine or beta-alanine is to sports performance, L-theanine could be to meditation. Creatine in isolation will not increase muscle mass and will barely move the needle on strength gains. However, those marginal increases in performance sustained over time lead to appreciable results.

I agree with your point regarding dosage. Nothing in excess. "All things are poisons, for there is nothing without poisonous qualities. It is only the dose which makes a thing poison." — Paracelsus.
