Warned: Off-topic
Looking to start buying some hard copies of books, not looking for grimoires or anything like that as I don't do "magick", moreso books that are foundational and have deep insights. Mainly have been interested in the modern secret societies like freemasonry, rosicrucianism, earlier things they are based on like hermetics, etc....

Am pretty interested in learning the higher up initiate secrets (ones that are more "universal" rather than their specific rituals), and have been looking at crowley's texts recently although it's super allegorical so haven't really understood any of it. As a bit of a side question - how should I go about learning from books that are more difficult such as the Book of Lies (Crowley) if that's a good way to go about learning the occult?

Am also somewhat just lost in terms of where to go next in learning the occult, so, sorry for being vague or messy.

In all seriousness, I would suggest that physical copies are essential for ANY volume you regularly use or refer to, or don't want to lose when the power goes out permanently in about 20 years time (at the most) due to the power grids melting down when the Sun does it's thing at the crescendo of the ongoing Magnetic Excursion event.
Our planetary Magnetic Field is tanking hard now, with the Northern Magnetic Pole heading towards Siberia and eventually the Indonesian Sea, and the Southern Magnetic Pole has already left Antarctica & is heading for a metting with the Northern Pole in the Indonesian Sea. At the same time the South Atlantic Anomaly ios deepening, with a second anomaly forming as well. The best estimate we have for the strength of the field right now is that it is down by around 20-30%, losing a minimum of 1%/year, possibly faster - we don't know because details from the ESA SWARM mission are no longer being made public even though the European Taxpayers funded this - why is it being kept quiet? Not hard to work it all out.
The fact is that we are more & more vulnerable to weaker & weaker events and as well as climate related events being triggered by this event (NOT CO2, which is merely Plant Food) it is also interfering with a lot of the Biosphere, both Flora and fauna who rely on it for navigation (Whales,. Dolphins, Turtles, Migratory Birds, right down to insects like Ants (who lose their place & cannot locate their nests).
90% of the worlds population will not survive this event once the power goes out because everything is utterly dependent on this - food, water, gas, ATM, phones, interweb, sewage, all will be gone.
If you doubt this look up what happened in 1859 in the Carrington Event and bear in mind we get serious Geomagnetic Storms these days from pitiful little X-8 Flares - and our Star can go to X1500!

"The Tao Te Ching" – Laozi (translated by Stephen Mitchell)
  • A mystical text on Taoist philosophy, offering deep insights into the flow of existence.
