Is anybody in the forum part of a coven or occult group? If so, how did you become a member?

I have been practicing and learning on my own for a while now, and while not experienced in practicing in a group by any means, I'm quite curious about how it would work out, and I was considering looking for one in my country or local area (Spain). How did you get into a coven or how do you think you would go around to find one? Tried with a simple Google search, but most of what appears seems unrelated, and I'm not really interested in joining some organizations like The Golden Dawn, for example, due to the fact that they have different "grades" to access or practice magical knowledge. I'm more interested in finding a group who is interested about learning and practicing in a group like I am, but without any sort of constraining hierarchy. Like a group of friends who instead of going out just to party, practice or discuss magick together.

Any opinions or experience on the issue?

Regards

K

Every practicing group I’ve ever known started out as a couple of weirdo friends who got curious and tried out some magic together. They met in school, local occult shop, jobs, etc They stuck with it and over time collected a few other weirdos like an island of misfit toys. And if they keep pushing the boundaries then some members will decide it’s too serious for them and they drop out or most likely there is a member or two who decides no one else is hardcore enough and leaves the group. So over time it just goes back and forth collecting and losing members until everyone eventually moves on doing their own thing. So in short like most other friend of hobby groups.

I don’t personally think real magic lends itself to groups tbh. So check the local area groups/hangouts that similar people spend time at and if something clicks then yea! If not then that’s cool too. Not sure this even relevant anymore.

Holi, yo también soy de España y he estado buscando gente con la que al menos hablar en español de brujería porque lo único que encuentro o son comunidades inglesas o tiktoks de tarot, no es que haya estudiado mucho por ahora pero si quieres hablar yo encantado

You don't find groups like that - you found groups like that.
Round up some interested persons for a book club/discussion group/workshop/study group etc... and see where it goes.

Personally, I'm old-school, so I used to read & post notices in occult supply stores, and talk to people at public & private moots - and you can always start a pagan moot of your own if there isn't one local enough to you.

I was in practicing in groups for a few years. It was not that I found the group, it found me because I had interesting conversations with people I met on different occasions. One of the main reasons I left both groups that I was the one who wanted to go deeper and made it to an everyday practice. For the other people in the group it seemed like they were having a kind of hobby horse. (and that is fine too, really no offence or hard feelings) It is not always the case that you learn more or better in a group.

I am part of several occult groups as of right now. I am in several Aset Ka sects as well as The Green Order and a lesser known group called "Ordo Serpentis" (Order of the Serpent). I would hone my craft before joining one if I were you you. The aim of a group should be not to tell people what is what is what or how to do things but to push for a common aim, continue a dying practice, learn from each other while still having an individual practice, etc. You should hone your craft and then meet some people who are in a group already, preferably a more serious one with a bigger goal than learning New Age magick.

You also want to be careful joining groups . I saw one site I won't name . They wanted an awful lot of information about possible members but did not identify themselves . Read JMC post about groups using people as 'batteries'

I am very careful when joining a group, because there's a lot of Cults running around. I tend to keep away from things like that.
