What are some ways in which you protect yourself from energy vampires?
Obviously the easiest solution is to distance yourself from these people. In my experience at least, energy vampirism mainly occurs in person, or at least when in some form of communication with people.
Let's say you're in a situation where you can't immediately cut contact with people. How then would you take measures to defend your energy? Be that occult measures or mundane.
Some tactics I employ, mainly from the physical proximity angle, I long ago developed from the inspirations of Anton LaVey, Robert Greene and Dennings and Phillips include:
1. Avoid eye contact, or at least prolonged gazing.
2. Try not to face them directly - as in keeping turned slightly to one side. This to try to protect energy centers and project aloofness.
3. Keep any conversations only to what is necessary and tune out any of their emotional hooks and lures.
4. If they try to get close, stay mobile in a natural way and try to keep physical barriers between you and them, like a table or something.
5. If they invade thoughts and emotions somehow - especially for no reason - intentionally develop a sense of inner hostility without violating social boundaries. A way I see this as the desiccation of Mars energy vs. the moisture of Venusian energy. Outwardly an impersonal businesslike attitude while avoiding direct rudeness, unless they provoke it.
6. Try to avoid them mooching, such as when they ask to borrow something or to bum cigarettes. Avoid accepting gifts from them or anything where some kind of sympathetic bond can be assumed.
I could think of more, but it is dependent on the situation. I view what I consider and have experienced as "vampirism" as a hostile act, a form of psychic warfare. Most people I meet who are vamping are seeking someone to latch onto and are unconscious of it. It's really sad in the case of people who are really ill and need to latch onto the energy of others, especially if they are close relations - in those cases some inner distance with due care is needed as these are not enemies.
Shielding and warding is a great first step. Even simple methods like the 12D Shield or Auric Shields can be effective since the vast majority of energy vamps are what I call "unconscious" (meaning they don't know that they're a psy vamp) but you can beef it up using various methods (other spirits, protective talismans, etc). Reinforce these shields weekly.
energy vampirism can happen over the internet as well, cue the troll video joke. Although i dont practice energy vampirism (other peoples energys are quite redundant to me) it can definitely be done over long distances. If you arent aware of the drain to reverse it then the rest such as shielding, using mantras and such just adds resistance and the rest depends on your defence vs the vampire's skill and ability.
Even if you arent a vampire it can be very easy to accidentally drain people around you when you inadvertently try to recharge yourself.
i find researching triggers works. i have one old one. the word is source and it should feel neutral so it can be seen as concept. to me it feels like a disease. and when i take a look at the word i see white stuff and sores. thats not a good view, a wrong connection so to say. i did not feel evil intent as one would feel with magick attacks, more like a sorry i didnt know. because i have done this for so long now i know the sorry is a human and the wrongness is a 'war'. in my world its microsoft vs linux and me the nitwit saying dos and linux are loving each other why the fuck are you attacking me.
i think a lot of people who work with it like site owners, crypto dudes and dudettes, it department people can agree with me that overall microsoft and its owners did a lot of stupid/wrong stuff in the world.

skull ban me all you want, but im writing how i defense against energy vampirism as asked in the header of the topic. if diverting isnt defending then id say ok off topic, but either way i used diversion as defense.
one might think a discussion would be more appropriate then using your staff member power. off topic as explanation for the warning when one is asking is either showing that the question didnt clarify what you are really asking or that you really dont know what im saying cause you dont know what im trying to explain.

As funny as this is this is actually real and relevant in that draining can be done from anywhere. Its much easier in proximity but you can specifically drain people over distances. Hence my reply wasn't offtopic, and it is crucial to understand defence. Ofcourse if your energy is very mature thats a different case and passive is always a better option through your own progress with energy.
Some classes of angels i know have very matured energy that they can heal you just by talking to you even though it is not their intention to heal.
energy vampirism isnt immune to be messed with so there are some defences you can use here other than reversing to prevent a drain in the first place while common defences such as defence rituals, mantras, shielding only add resistance.

there are 2 better accomplished vampirisms that this doesnt work against.
The first is skilled, they can drain from around them, anywhere and can drain specifically or by instinct. This will just block the flow or restrict but may not stop. This only accounts for a tiny portion though.
The 2nd which i fall in is when doing a powerful direct magick and i drain from around me or from any convenient person available to perform it, which is why despite the pain to purposely avoid doing this i find the world disrespectful to me taking the effort to hold back. poisoning does not do a thing here as its not just a single person being drained but an entire area and poisoning wont work against this despite what you think. It takes a certain spiritual development to manipulate a lot of energy on such a level and theres details out of topic related here and in relation to how some supernatural biologies work too. However i solved this thanks to power type angels who shared their source of power but the implementation to solve it is very difficult.
Im not really an energy vampire but draining for any sort of instinctive direct magick feels like 2nd nature to me.

I'd say that the target must know they are being drained, of course. But it takes some wit for a magician to know they are being drained by or even around an actual vampire (if the vampire don't spill the beans, of course), so this sort of target isn't oblivious, therefore, probably not the best target. I'm assuming that vampires share a predatorial mentality, which tends to avoid difficult targets and invest on weaker ones.
This practice of poisoning is based on personal experience and it worked beautifully, even if against a very inexperienced wannabe that was super obvious about it, lol.
A question. If a target has very noxious energy, like a terminal drug addict of simply a very sick person, would the vampire drain it anyways?
