In Hoodoo, one common practice is to create a mojo bag, otherwise known as fixing a hand/Toby. It is usually a red flannel bag filled with herbs and then given life. These can draw luck, love, heal, etc. Although modern hoodoo practitioners often use color symbolism (Working the rainbow) to choose the color of the bag, RED is the traditional All-Purpose color. But if choosing a color specific to the work using modern color symbolism helps you, then by all means, choose the "right" color.
Similarly, sachets are bags of herbs charged to do magical work. The main difference is that mojo bags have LIFE. You have to talk to the Toby, make it feel loved. Feed it at least once a week. Sachet powers are bags full of power, but they aren't sentient. It's sorta like sigils and thoughtforms. Thoughtforms are the next evolved form after sigils, they have sentience. Sigils can accomplish the same goals, but they do not have sentience.

I will show you how to create both.

For Mojo bags, you must give it a name. If you use a High John the Conqueror Root, which is generic and for any purpose in hoodoo, you will call the toby "John". John does not merely become an ingredient, but the entire bag.
The number of items placed in the Toby must be odd. No less than three and no greater than 9. Herbs, stones, sigils, etc. can all go into its creation. Remember to pick out herbs that correspond to your purpose. You wouldn't, for example, use barberry in a love bag (since barberry is used to cause conflict and fission).
If you do use sigils, remember to keep it Judeo-Christian friendly. Mojo bags are Hoodoo, and Hoodoo is heavily influenced by Christianity and European magic.

For the spell of breathing life into the Toby (or John), you must have a Bible, Holy Water, Salt, Candle, Frankincense, oil, all herbs etc., the bag, and some string/ribbon to tie it up.
First, take the bag and put in the High John root if you are employing one. Otherwise, you can start putting in herbs. The entire time, you must compliment the Toby and tell it about the herbs you're putting in it. Especially, tell him why you are putting those herbs in. You want your Toby to know its job!
After all the ingredients are in, tie it up. Take the Holy water and anoint the top of the toby where his opening was (to keep impure forces out). Take a little more and anoint the toby all over. Not enough to dampen him or damage the herbs, only enough to get him a little wet. Hold in the smoke of frankincense, thoroughly fumigating him. Sprinkle a little salt on him and hold him above a candle flame. The flame will warm the bag and "get the mojo workin'."
You can now recite psalms pertaining to your purpose. Afterwards, turn your bible to Genesis Chapter 2 Verse Seven. Recite that verse, which tells how God breathed life into man.
Hold the toby in your left hand. Call him to alertness by calling out his name, tapping him thrice quickly. Breathe into him three breaths, giving him life. Welcome your toby to life and feed him.
When I say feed him, I don't mean put food in him. You take the oil, which should be specific to your purpose (you can purchase them in botanica shops, online hoodoo stores, or make them yourself), and anoint him five times in the shape of the Five dots on a die. You should do this at least once a week, or everyday if you choose.

Carry your toby on you whenever you want his influence. Make sure to talk to him and encourage him to do his job. But be gentle, not stern. I choose to sleep with toby under my pillow or clutched in my hand. Keeping him close makes him trust you.
Don't EVER let ANYONE besides yourself look at your toby. And NEVER let anybody else touch him! This will kill him.

Sachets can be made in a very similar way. You must the magical oil, bag, frankincense, salt-water, candle, herbs, and string.
You would follow any preliminary rituals (circle casting, banishing rituals etc.) indicated by your tradition. You would time your rite to the moon phases and other astrological times.
You can invoke a specific entity to help empower the sachet, such as a godform, angel, or demon, etc. In this case, you should open their sigil and put it in the sachet first.
Open your rite as normal. Invoke an entity congruent to the purpose if you choose.
Place all the items into the bag, focusing on the purpose of the rite. I would take this time to chant or vibrate the name of the demon I am working with.
After all the items are in bag, tie it up. Purify it with the salt-water, incense, and candle. Anoint it with the oil. Then, hold it in your hands or upon the altar, funnel energy into it to empower it. You can raise energy, using your own or that of the spirit, and channel it into the bag. Afterwards, you would thank the spirit and end the ritual.
If you want to start using it immediately, you'll need to charge it once every single day. Otherwise, charge it for a whole month maxium to imbue it with the energy it needs.

I wouldn't use these bags for cursing, especially mojo bags. But sachets, if charged for a month at least, could be placed on somebody's person or home to cause discord. Not the most reliable method though.
