Hello, I am interested in making a thread aboud Perennial Philosophy, I study Hermetic Qabbalah and Ogdoadic Tradition, I am very new to Occultism but I have heard for example about all ancient civilizations share a common universal and timeless metaphysical truth to a point where I tought it was a conspiracy theory, but then after I keep studying I notice it is true and also that it is true that some conspiranutz want us to belive in weird crazy stuff.

The Greeks, the Egyptians, the Chaldean, the Hebrew, they all knew about this philosophy and I have heard that Pythagoras travelled a lot in Egypt and Babylon and that he brought this "secret doctrine" to the West, he was the link, and it kind of make sense because reading Hesiods "Theogony" in the comments of the spanish book I read said about a link Hesiod might knew which connects Sumerian Mythology with Ancient Greek Mythology, similarities like Urano being castrated by Kronos and the Zeus giving Kronos war and imposing himself as dominant, this had already happened in Sumerian Mythology,

The way I look at it, any similarities and crossovers between magical philosophies stem from magic being an inbuiilt human ability; an unexpected property of normal human consciousness. If all humans have it, then there are bound to be similarities between different implementations. The Sufi story about the blind men and the elephant, where the doing of magic is the elephant, and all the magical systems are the blind men

As for the mythology angle, people have been stealing and repurposing stories since the beginning, so you get to see the resurrection of Jesus stolen from Isis rebuilding Osiris and so on.

One idea that always interested me was that the West got its 'white hippy Jesus' from the statue of Zeus, one of the Ancient Wonders of the World.
