I've seen a lot of occultists say Quija has been used for this purpose for a long time but is it really effective?

Quija a reliable method of communicating with spirits?

I haven't tried a Ouija board since I became an occultist, but I don't see why it would be any different than any other form of divination. IMO it's up to the practitioner to make magick of any kind work.
CAVEAT - I dabbled with Ouija boards a few times when I was much, much younger, but I have never really investigated them.
