I found this the other night and watched it today, it was a very enjoyable experience. I have some stills from particularly beautiful scenes.
This film was an absolute delight. It is a powerful wakeup call and is rich in symbolism. I'm going to watch it again sometime soon with a notepad when I have another free afternoon.
yeah, i really enjoy the visual style. i was inspired by the opening scenes with the dots, kind of like a lazer show at the plane-aarium.
I've been slowly hacking away at learning various VJ software to make visual art that i can "play" with my music - audio reactive, responsive to my synthesizers midi notes, etc etc... and i got some inspiration where i imagined how i could do it with the level of knowledge i have now....
Its interesting, my government name is a derivative of a solar god and my chosen name, chosen because it was the feminine version and no other reason, turns out it can mean Moon, but also the first syllable can mean sea or mountain but also is used as "beloved" or "dear" - but also in the same culture as a placeholder for "woman" - but with a rank sort of. A title of respect, like an italian would any Gigi.
Anyways, then i realize the second half could be spelled "Ra" who of course is the word for Sun, plus Osiris-Ra having the association with being a psychopomp or guide in the underworld, which is very Hecatean... And i cant express how strongly the "through hell and back" "born from the ashes" mythos resonates with my life..... And of course theres tons of layers i couldnt possibly communicate......
Shout out the beautiful and benevolent Sun, thank you for everything.
Anyways glad you liked it, I too have earmarked some screens to do some live visuals and such

It also mentions many small details that get omitted from most surface level information you find on the internet about the myths.
im such a sucker for old hand drawn "underground comics" type animations from this era (70s im guessing, maybe up to the early 90s)... one of my earliest dreams was to be an animator. inspired by the likes of newgrounds.com - stick death, happy tree friends, pico.... and ive always been in love with stop frame animation, indeed one ofmy earliest art forms was when i realized i could do stop frame with the webcam on my grandparents hand me down computer circa 2001-2002 or so... oh i also did mushrooms, around 4 grams, when i was 11 and watched the yellow submarine interesting experience to say the least
just to strike up conversation, and maybe some dreams - what vocations did you imagine for yourself when you were a little kid? I remember being like, five - maybe six, barely, and whenever anyone would ask me what i wanted to be i'd say "an entomologist!" quite confidently. It got a lot of chuckles, i never got why.
At another point, i would firmly answer "a squirrel" - now that i say that "out loud" again i get the sense that may explain a lot lmao
i would say i wanted to be reincarnated as a dog all the time. i've always had very very close relationships with dogs. hehehehe...

I chuckled. Just now. But, I don't know why either. I suppose it's because t's unexpected. And fun. Insects are awesome, though. Beautiful, too. Also scary. A swarm of hornets will eat me alive and there's nothing I'd be able to do but run away and scream.
