Warned: Wrong section. Moved.
I'm diving back into sigil magick practice with renewed focus and intention, and I'd love to learn from this community's collective wisdom.

What I'm curious about:

  • What methods or techniques have you found most effective for sigil creation and charging in recent times?
  • Have you discovered any particular approaches that significantly enhanced your results?
  • Any interesting variations on traditional methods that worked surprisingly well for you?
  • What role, if any, have modern contexts (digital spaces, contemporary psychology, etc.) played in your practice?

I'm especially interested in hearing about practical experiences rather than just theory—what's actually worked for you?

Whether you're working with Austin Osman Spare's classical methods, chaos magick approaches, or something entirely your own, I'm eager to hear about your journey.

Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!

I really like the method of transforming the word into its Hebrew letter form and then tracing it into a kind of wheel, from Kabbalah. This way you can create a tracing. It's very useful as a quick sigil, to do in the air or draw quickly.

As for more complex sigils, I had learned a chaos magic technique, but I confess I've forgotten it. Energizing varies according to the intent. Leaving it in sunlight, under the full moon, burning specific herbs, a "command prayer," burying it... I find all of these effective, depending on the use of the sigil and where it was placed.

Your last question strays a bit from the topic of sigils, but: AI helps me with research; I'm usually interested in psychology, but not without needing to understand where one knowledge connects with another. It certainly helps you understand yourself and others, at least.

I have always applied ecstatic trance while preparing and charging for sigil work. The particular state of consciousness has been phenomenal for virtually all of the work I have done for decades now. Though I hate the term, if interested, it is commonly known in Core Shamanism, coined by Michael Harner, as the Shamanic State of Consciousness.

I've developed my own way:

As an artist I like to draw and drawing really helps my focus. So my sigils are practically pieces of art that fill entire A4 paper with stuff that symbolizes what sigil is supposed to do. It takes me hours to make, so I give it a lot of energy during that time.

And then I either laminate the sigil for long keeping... or usually I just rip it to pieces. Would prefer burning it, but that is not workable in my environment. Shredding piece of art is still pretty releasing and energetic, because for me as art lover it is also defilement and definitive destruction of an art...

I use what I have, especially if I want to make sigil at work or on travel, special stuff takes needless space.

standart 80g paper I use for everything... nice white and easy to rip.
common pencils, HB hardness usually
markers if I want really black lines.
