I'll start this off by saying I am a polytheist who recognizes the abrahamic God as our creator. (What a contradiction right?)

I have felt great power in chanting psalm 23 when I am in the presence of something dangerous, or a spirit I don't want to interact with. This prayer has even helped calm me down during fits of anxiety. I think we underestimate the power of the Bible at times, but if you're ever feeling bad or unsafe, try saying this prayer as many times as possible. Saying it like a chant has been overwhelming at times.

I tend to pick and choose my truths out of the Bible and other religious teachings, and trust that I am on the right path. Even if you have nothing going on, try chanting this prayer 3 times and just be open to the energy from God.

_____________
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

The Kabbalah assigns certain powers to each Psalm, or the Tehilim as they call them.
I think a lot of treasures can be found in the book of Psalms. With Gematria and Acronyms, Anagrams etc there's much to discover.

Check of Jacobus swarts The Book of Magical Psalms volume 1. It has a very in depth exploration of the the Psalms from a kabblist point of view.

It's about as reliable as predicting life expectancy. Also, this thread is three and a half years old.

Anyhoodle, the Abrahamic god is the creator and that means he's responsible for both good and evil. In the Book of Job, Satan has to ask permission to mess up Job's life, so you can lay those dead children at God's feet. I think the hardest part of coming to grips with that is accepting it in the first place. The actual processing isn't so bad.

Faith healing isn’t bullshit (tho most people who claim to believe in it are on the same level as people who claim to be dating Loki and that he loves them and likes to Netflix and chill).

And faith & magical healing does have a long history of being a favorite of conmen (due to the desperation of the marks) or often someone who has had some success with it but eventually just end up somewhere along the way making excuses for it not always working and then they slowly start believing in their own apologetics/excuses thereby becoming some type of self-deluded conman.

Healing is hard period. Especially concerning any serious issue that the person has come to focus on and identify with. Even more so in today’s overly connected society.

Don’t let some bad experience with religion cloud your viewpoint. Definitely don’t come attacking someone’s post on it 3.5 years later.

lol not at all. A little bored to be honest but that’s neither here nor there.

But you’re right on one thing - life (I’ll insert reality and magic here as well since that’s the topic at hand) doesn’t really care that you couldn’t make it work.

And that it didn’t work for you doesn't mean that it’s all bullshit. That would be like saying you wrecked and gave up when you first tried to learn to ride a bike so therefore the myth of bike riding is bullshit.

It isn’t a fact it’s just you drawing an incorrect conclusion based off some limited experience. Not unlike like the self-deluded individual I mentioned in my first post.

I like you you’re fun. Even with your tired over-used excuses. And just for the record my remarks weren’t really specifically Abrahamic even if the OP was about the Lord’s Prayer. But you obviously have an axe to grind in that area so I’ll let you get back to it.

take care.
