Cult of Thoth? Don't know myself, honestly it reminds me of the Cult of Loki as described in Thusakingi books. There it is made up concept that is designed to help magician by convincing him that such a cult exists, making him think that the work he does is supported by others. At least that is my guess on this matter.
Thoth is favored in some branches of new age movement, also in hermetism. I hope our friends here will point you to some kemetic books. I definitely approve of research focused on kemetic angle.
