Have you ever had an experience or encounter with something that you just... can't explain?

Yes. I was in a small city a couple years ago. We were visiting a lake. It had rained that day, and stopped, but the clouds still covered the sky. I was hiking by myself on a hill, overlooking the lake. A few things in the sky, up by the clouds caught my attention. They looked like silver or chrome balls in the sky. I glanced at them, and dismissed them as party balloons, and so I kept hiking.

A few minutes later, I gazed back at the silver party ballons. They had not moved. They were stationary. It was windy that day, and the clouds were moving, but those silver balls did not move. That's when I stopped hiking and watched them.

There were about 12 or 13 or 14 of them. Judging by the fact that they were very high next to the clouds, and they were very visible, I estimated that they were much bigger than party ballons. Maybe weather balloon in size. They we just totally motionless in a group together, over the lake. I was thinking how odd it was. How can weather balloons stay in place on a windy day like that? I noticed after looking close at them that they were all spinning on their north-south axis. One side was slightly darker than the other. That put me into that WTF state of mind.

All of a sudden, I witnessed something bizarre. The 13-14 silver balls, changed colors. The turned from silver to white, then to red, then to a glowing light yellow, like plasma balls or ball lightning. Once they turned a glowing light yellow, like lightbulbs, they moved!

They moved down, all together as a group. As they moved, some were slowly chasing each other. As they moved they blinked, meaning they dimmed their light and made it bright and dimmed it etc. They slowly moved down, and as they moved down, they became dimmer and dimmer, and one by one, they vanished, or became invisible to the eye.

I was in such a WTF state of mind that I totally forgot to take out my phone to video them.

To this day, I have no idea what they were. I would suspect that they were ball lightning or some kind of plasma phenomena, but watching them move, and chase each other around like fish or bugs, made me understand that they exhibited some kind of sentience or intelligence.

Another thing I personally experience daily which I can't explain is divination. I've been reading cards for a few years, and I can't explain how it works. How does entropy and randomness - shuffling the cards and drawing random cards - see the future or the most likely future? How does it work? I think its absolutely crazy, because I carry those cards with me, I touch them and use them daily. And I have no idea how it all works.

Like I know the superficial concept behind divination by cartomancy or sortilege. It's a form of synchronicity. The animists of many cultures explain divination like sortilege as the same thing as asking the gods or spirits for signs, except that instead of looking in the world for your signs, the signs manifest in the cards or bones, etc.

That much I understand, but it's superficial, because it doesn't explain what synchronicity is, what is causing such signs and synchronicity to manifest for you!

Another thing I experience daily, which I still can't explain is "spirit possession." I was for the longest time dismissive and skeptical about spirit possessions. I believed that people faked being possessed by spirits.

But, now, I experience a two-headed possession. I'm actually consciously aware that a spirit moves my body, limbs, and hands, fingers, and head. The spirit has its own personality, is interactive, has a sense of humor, like to play, like to draw, can write poems, can warn you of incoming danger, can do magic for you, etc. What is it? What is a "spirit?" I've always thought spirits were things like ghosts and apparitions. I experience it, but I can't explain it and I don't understand it. Not understanding how such things work doesn't bother me. I don't understand how my car, or computer, or brain work, and I still use them just fine.

This is one of my first weird experiences.
Happened in the early 2000s. I wasn't dealing with any spiritual stuff at that time. I was more into online gaming and playing with friends outside.

We were walking in a forest with some friends. The place is not too far from nearby homes, some km's. There are narrow straight forward gravel roads surrounded by dense forests, swamps left-right. Peaceful and quiet, feels like time stands still.

After walking around for some hours we decided to take the final straight long narrow way out. Some people started approaching us from the distance. When we finally met it felt really strange. They wore clothes from 1800s and had farming tools, buckets, stuff that you would not expect people to have in 2000s. They started speaking and said something that answered a question that we had, this was something about the forest, we did not ask anything. Even stranger is that they disappeared some 2 minutes after that. We continued heading towards the exit, they were walking deeper into forest, from where we came. There was nowhere to turn, it goes straight forward. I looked back and there was nobody:unsure:

Absolutely nothing made sense over there. The fact they spoke like that, their clothes, items, how they disappeared just some minutes after that. The nearest homes were 2 km away and modern. One of them, the woman had a bucket filled with water. Before I turned to look back, we were questioning what had just happened "What the hell just happened?" "Is there a costume party in the forest today? No there can't be, not in this area, impossible"

I've had a few but I don't have much time before work so here's the shortest one.

When I was about 9 or 10, my father took me to Cedar Point (huge amusement park in Ohio if you're not familiar) since we both loved rollercoasters. It was a beautiful sunny day, it was crowded in the park so my dad would just lightly place his hand on the back of my neck to kind of hold me while we walked from ride to ride so he didn't lose me (I was a wanderer lol).
As we were walking from the Millennium Force to the Mean Streak, I experienced some sort of ego death/lost time/loss of mental consciousness (still haven't figured out exactly what happened). I remember walking off the Millennium Force and my dad resting his hand on my neck, and then immediately walking into the line for the mean streak, with my dad still holding my neck. It was as if we teleported. As I came too, it felt like that feeling of falling while you're asleep. I remember feeling the pressure of my dads hand on my neck as if it were the entirety of my existence for a few moments, I then freaked out and tried to explain the feeling to my dad, and he said we've been walking and talking for a good 5 minutes.

I did not remember any of it whatsoever, like my body and "physical" mind were on autopilot and my consciousness was no longer existent, it wasn't a "blacking out" perse, it was moreso as if I experienced nonexistence for that 5 or so minutes even though I was walking and apparently talking.

I had one that dealt with shadow people (at least I think so)

I was 22 at the time and had took a walk at night. When I was coming back from my walk, some random shadow formed in front of me and ran through me. I never understood what it was or why it happened but I went home confused. After that incident, I climbed into bed and went to sleep without issue. In the morning, for three days, I kept having sleep paralysis. Something kept whispering into my ear but nothing legible.

I still don't know what that was.

I have an experience with a shadow figure too. This is one of those earliest experiences.
I was in a building that was used as a church or convent. Early in the morning I was the first person and there was no one on that floor but me.
Somewhere near the corner, in some room, I saw a silhouette of somebody in a monastic robe walking past me

I have an experience that happened to me when I was a middle schooler. I can't remember it well and maybe it was just us kids fooling around but I'll still talk about it. Take it with a grain of salt.

When I was a middle schooler, I used to live in an apartment complex. Nothing too fancy, several apartments in an area with a little children's park and some roads to walk on. It had more trees and greenery than the general area we were living in (mountainous area with continental climate, aka dry and no forests), but still not enough to be considered as a forest-y area. I've befriended a group of kids in our complex and we would spend time together until late hours. One night, we were at the children park and swinging on the swings, talking about stuff (my friend says that we were talking about paranormal stuff as we were quite interested in it as kids). Then we got up from the swings and went on a walk together. Since it's safe inside our apartment complex, we weren't scared of going outside at night. Few minutes later, I returned to the park alone for some reason, probably to take something from my bag that was sitting on the benches. When I got there, I noticed that the swing was swinging as if someone jumped off of it just now. I didn't think much of it at first but then I tried to remember whether we left that one swing swinging or not. And I didn't remember anyone leaving it like that. After realising that, I got spooked and went back to my friends. I asked them if anyone left the swings swinging and everyone was sure that they were staying still when we left. They also got spooked and some of us went back to check again. It was either lightly swinging or not swinging at all when we came back to the park. We sat down and spent some time there before going back to meeting with the rest of the group. When we went back, my friend told me that he saw an owl fly over his head while they were walking, which is unusual. I've never seen an owl in this area before, and I've been here my entire life. When we checked the time to see if its time to go home (because it felt like at least half an hour has passed), we realized that its only been 10 minutes. We all could swear the entire thing lasted longer than 20 minutes.

We never found an explanation to it to this day. Maybe it was just us being kids and our minds playing tricks on us, or maybe something more. We talked about it several times over the years and no one came forward saying it was a prank either. If anyone has a theory I would be glad to hear it 😆
