What's your definition of a spell? Is it sustained by repetitive thought? Does a spell correspond with your beliefs?

I think a spell is a kind of roundabout, crooked way of crafting a kind of fairly nebulous servitor with a single task. I don’t think repetitive thought helps it usually, I think it confuses it and wastes its energy to give it further instructions.

for me a spell is sustained intention. i think it's possible to use materials and incant words, but more than anything, it is holding an image or vision in your head and bringing energy and care to that image, believing it can and will be true

IMO, a spell is the external representation of your intent, that you use to fix your intent into your subconscious.

A spell is a ritual act which aims to bring about a specific result through influence on unseen or subtle dimensions of reality.
