I have no issue with those who use the witch as an archetypal symbol for their Work. In fact it's partly the reduction of that traditional symbol to a safe, purchasable aesthetic that makes much of this so egregious. The same can be said of those who use the symbol of the vampire for attention, those who use the Magus (or, indeed, dead astronomers) as an exercise in expressing shallow thoughts in an affectedly unclear way, etc., etc.

Those capable of apprehending quality know the difference between the conscious use of a symbol to communicate multifaceted dispositions and LARPing. Those who are not capable, I don't engage with.

Contrasting oneself to sweeping generalizations(they're all that way) is a psychological response worthy of investigation.

I absolutely adore how many comments are like "the reason is fascism". Fascism, the famously anti-religious ideology that swept up tons of occult symbolism along the way.

When I say "pandering to the fascist takeover" what I am saying is that Christianity is the tool du jour for our current authoritarian regime. It is the religion of the majority of the supporting base and thus it is what's being implemented as a means to control the masses and give the blind followers a means to self-police those around them. Fascism =/= religious, absolutely, but it WILL use religion as a means to an end.

Giving it some thought, It might be actually that there is no huge wave of people moving to Christianity from New age. It might just be the conversion of Alex reads Tarot, which was big celebrity which caused changes in algorithm and interest of people who now saw this one converting, this one, this one, that one.... omg, there are so many, there is a mass converting going on! It might all be just algorithm following online influencer/celebrity figure...

Alex was one, but how many more are there converting now? I think this is all just a huge overstatement. When I hear about that current wave of conversions, there is only her name. Gash, should have realized that earlier. One person is not mass of people.

Yeah, but why fascism though? It's just another wave of relatively plain authoritarianism of the loosely conservative-coded variety. It has no characteristic pomp and high-class intellectual aspirations, none of the paradoxically revolutionary vigour to drink deep in the symbolism. It's just called that to sell it as scary, as if merit was not enough. Somehow vaguely insulting, to be frank.

There are many groups that want to control others. I'd even say it's rare for people these days to have to pretention - conscious or not - to controlling others.

I can understand that. I also saw a few Black spiritual creators change too. I can't remember their names, but it was quite a few that I saw before I even saw Alex.
