Who would you say are the top 5 demons, especially for beginners, other than Lucifer, and why? And who are the top 5 demons you wouldn't suggest working with period.

I would say the following: which are the most indicated for you.
Best or worst are generic terms.
Seek which can help you.

Depends on the reason you want to work with a demon...and what religion/culture you reasonate with and the rules in that culture.

I don't know of any demons that I would recommend beginners to work with, including luci. I consider "demons" useful for intermediate or advanced practitioners.

As for the ones to never work with, any of the Lovecraftian boys. They all seem to see humanity as food, like an Anteater might see ants, and infect you with huge numbers of parasites, which are incredibly difficult to remove. Not cool.

This is one of the areas where "as above, so below" applies. But I have to first pose a wordy treatise on the term. "As above, so below," is a term that is bandied about about as cavalierly as "egregore," "physics," and "manifestation," that is to say, it doesn't have any value just because we say it instead of thinking about how to formulate what we actually mean. However, I feel "as above, so below," applies here because recognition of the daemon is the cause to which the effect is the recognition of something non-demonic, i.e. an angel. Since the myriads of angels operate in a hierarchy, each with a chief, so do demons. It is sometimes easier to investigate the rulers of the legions of demons and what characteristics they have been historically attributed to determine which order of demons you require. This is similar to corps, division, brigades, battalions and regiments, etc. within an army. Each entity has a specialization within a larger mission scope. Identifying the core need is the difficult task, but once that is accomplished the correct entity with which to seek affinity is often as simple as perusing some of the lists compiled from ancient and modern texts. I wish you luck.
