This may be the wrong thread as it was unclear to me which one to post in regarding this question. Coins… I’m moderately familiar with the baseline knowledge (types of metals, numbers they refer to, omen, duality of sides, rotation and so forth). Where I know there but not what just yet is the role of the bevel and I’m curious if anyone can guide me in a direction to mass wide use in practice. I’m not sure I even know how to write the question I’m looking to answer just yet but it’s a start..

The "bevel" likely refers to the edge. It can be grooved, smooth, angled, and have letters & symbols embossed/engraved upon it. If there is perceived significance to the faces, surely the edge can also hold meaning.
