Hi, I'm a newbie to the world of magic. While I have been interested in the occult for a long time since my early adulthood, it is only now that I have started to really explore it from the perspective of a practitioner. I have researched various magical ways like Wicca, traditional witchcraft, hermeticism, golden dawn etc, but not an expert on any of those. I am also deeply drawn to astrology as well. While I am very much interested in the Hermetic Corpus, I have chosen to follow the path laid out by Jason Miller. I have started with his book on Financial Sorcery, and plan to integrate magical workings along side the mundane actions or path I undertake in my daily life. That said, I would appreciate a bit of guidance from the esteemed members of this forum. I have decided to start with planetary magic with regards to some visa/approval related stuff which is also connected with the firm I am working at, and am a bit undecided on the proper way to kickstart this. There is a major unseen blocking force which I feel is obstructing my path for a long time now.

Any help or advice would be much welcome.

If anyone suggests any alternative way other than planetary magic which would be effective for endeavors like these, that would also be much welcome.

For planetary magic I recommend Christopher Warnick at Renaissance Astrology. You can also try practicing from the Picatrix or Ars Paulina. There are also the Olympian spirits and the 44 Planetary Spirits with Solomonic Magic. I find Ars Paulina and the Olympians easier to work with. You can make sigils on parchment paper or leather to begin with. I wouldn't buy any premade materials until you figure out which system you like the best.

If you are go on Patreon, The Esoteric Magick Shop works with a unique planetary magick which I find simple to work with.

I see, thank you for your inputs. Let me try the Olympian spirits and see how they suit me. Can I create the talisman by just using pen and paper?

That's an excellent start. I'd do so by following the Arbatel's method of invoking at dawn on the day that corresponds to the spirit, Saturday for Aratron, Sunday for Och etc. Just pen and paper will be all you need to start out. For extra oomph you might want to try consecrating them, with water, incense, or just candlelight. Pass them through the element and say a quick prayer to cleanse and bless the parchment and pen. Then invoke the spirit and write your talisman in their presence. Whatever you find ends up working best for you is the best guide of course, trust your gut and the subtle sense of knowing that happens beneath your thoughts. Blessings to you on your journey!

Definitely worth snagging this if you haven't and plan to do work with the Olympic Spirits

I’m looking forward to an update! Best Wishes!
I tried an evocation for Venus and it worked, I think, in at least I got a real-world feedback, though there were other factors working as well behind the output. Let me expand on the process I followed.
I added an archangel (Anael for Venus) to the system to oversee the operation. So basically the hierarchy was Divine Providence - Evoke Anael - Evoke Hagith - Draw the seal of Hagith and write my petition - Say it out loud - Close the process with thanks. Afterward, fold the paper into 3 folds, then keep in a safe place. As I did the petition for a specific event, hence I burned the paper post that event with gratitude and confirming the working is closed. I did this during Venus hour on a non Venus day.
I am curious to work with other planetary spirits as well, would really look forward to any advice or feedback based on what I am doing.

Hi. Welcome. I'm a big fan of Jason Miller's work, and I definitely think he provides a good foundation for an exploration of the wider world of magic. I will say however that he doesn't really lay out anything that I would call "a path," or at least not a singular one. What he is most famous for is what he calls "sorcery," ie results magic, which does seem like what you're interested in here, but I wouldn't call that a "path." Jason does have a spiritual dimension to his own practice, and that comes through especially in a few of his courses, but honestly I wouldn't take any of those as standalone paths either.

As for your present challenge, my mind turns to Sara Mastros's book The Sorcery of Solomon, which is without a doubt an inspired work and well worth reading even if you never practice from it. It is basically a planetary-based system with a wide selection of off-the-shelf spells that will almost certainly give you something you can work with directly. The only drawback is that it is not a system that provides for one-and-done spell work. There is a bit of work involved in creating and activating the tools involved, but once created, the workings are not too demanding.

If you want to tell us more about what kind of "blocking force" you're talking about, I'd be happy to help think of specific ritual approaches to working with it.

Thank you for your insights, they are very illuminating! I will definitely check out the book you mentioned. As for the blocking force, it's like a long term overwhelming feeling and understanding that even after exhausting all mundane efforts towards a goal of mine, things keep blocking. This is associated partially with my workplace management and partially with a government body. It has been years and I have almost spent the maximum of my efforts so far, with very delayed and paltry results. I am thus looking for some way to unblock this energy so that things become smoother.
