I call this technique: Watch Yourself While Going To Sleep.
This method helped me to have an AP many years ago. I hope it would help others too.
So it goes like this:

Lie down comfortably on your back, facing the ceiling. Dim down the lights and relax by using
any relaxation technique described above. Clear your mind of unwanted thoughts and let yourself
go limp. Let yourself relax completely. Relax even more.

Tell yourself that you are going to watch yourself in the act of going to sleep. You must be very
clear about your intent. You're going to let your body sleep while your mind will remain alert
throughout the entire process. Tell yourself you will retain consciousness even while your body
is going to be in a complete "trance".

As you relax completely, you must learn to recognize the rather strange, distinctive sensations
you feel as your body moves into the sleep state. You MUST stay aware as this unfolds. At a
certain point, you'll realize that you're in a hypnogogic state. (state between waking and sleeping)
After some time, you will feel that your body is feeling heavy and numb. You are on the right
track! Pay close attention to all your bodily sensations. You may feel yourself swaying or
floating. You might even find certain parts of your body tingling. There might be vibrations
running from your head to toe. You might even hear a strong buzzing sensation in your ears.
Whatever the sensations, do not panic as these are very good signals that you are on the verge of
experiencing an OOBE.

You have to then visualize that you are rising up from your bed and floating towards the ceiling.
How would it feel if you could actually float? Try to make the experience as real as possible.
Hold this image for as long as you can. If everything goes on well, you might suddenly find
yourself outside the body, floating near the ceiling!

If you have trouble visualizing yourself rising up, the following suggestions might help:
• Imagine flying in an airplane or balloon that is taking you higher and higher
• Imagine a boat swaying lazily in a calm river. You are lying in that boat, relaxing!
• Imagine yourself being carried away by a cloud
• Imagine you are in an elevator that is rising up slowly…
• Imagine you are a leaf that is being carried away by the wind
• Imagine sliding up or down an escalator.

The above suggestions will make it easier to give you the floating sensation that is so crucial to
your success.
Some visualizations techniques to help you rise up are:
  • imagine you are flying in a balloon in the sky
  • imagine you are a little cloud in the sky
floating

I love that you emphasized the floating sensation. I call it soaring when I leave a room because I can go quite high but something about it feels like riding the wind or some other substance.

I used to ap a lot when I was younger consciously. Often starting with this feeling that i was rotating on my bed in a void. The past 4 weeks I've been soaring in my dreams, which was so remarkable to me. I think exercises that I've been doing during the day is repairing something that is inching me toward this facility again.

I think strengthening your abillity to lucid dream is important. The most powerful way ive found for this is the reality check/body scan method. Whenever you get the thought you look at your hands, touch them together, and become aware of the sensations in your body. Visualiize a thin line travelling up through one leg, up through each limb and back, down to your other foot. acknowledgge the sensations you feel in your body, pay attention to external stimuli all while keeping in mind "am i dreaming?". where i read this they instructed to imagine the white light expelling black/dark energy accumulated in your body...

Do this often enough and youll start doing it in your dreams.

I have long had lucid dreams bu this practice caused them to be nightly.

About a year ago i started having extreme night terrors all relating to being trapped in the housing situation i was in. I would awake, aware im dreaming, but i couldnt move away from my body whhich was laying on the bed sleeping. Tied by my astral cord... i started pulling on my cord until i eventually could explore around my room. Once that happened, i would just try and interact wwith the things in my room, which would bring the object of focus in to a hhigher definition.... basically testing the boundaries of my dream. Eventually i was able to get to my door, which was posessed like the cellar door in Evil Dead... I eventually broke through. Over the next few weeks i had some very intense precognitive dreams, some intense astral projection, and had the first contact i can recall with Hecate.

All that being said, while fully lucid, i have only once or twice had control over my dream space. its more like i was a concious observer, like watching a movie.

Best of luck yall!

I have never been able to lucid dream. The closest I've been is: one time, I dreamt that I was riding on a train. The girl sitting in front of me said to me, "maybe this is just a dream. Can you try to wake up?" So then I did try to wake up and then I did wake up in my apartment. Would this still count as lucid dreaming even though my dream ended really quickly?

Question: Have those experiences satisfied You that consciousness survives the "mortal coil"?
In other words will you continue on as "djcullgirl" when it gets to be That Time?

I got ahead of myself there for a minute! I agree with you that developing / strengthening lucid dreaming Is important. It often serves as the basis for full fledged projection. Lucid dreaming and full projection are Close, with some differences. Somewhere I recall a statement by Dion Fortune which amounts to her belief, and this is a paraphrase: ( Someone who can Consciously project at Will is an Adept! ) Wish I could remember the exact terminology she used, it's close though. Lucid dreaming often is the first experience and intro for some people. It's a cool experience to realize you're dreaming! (y)

Sure sounds like you became lucid there even if briefly! You never know about other beings in dreams or projections, this one seems friendly.

Oh, i have long known such. I have died and been revived several times. The first time i had the concious experience of being in a void, a perfect nothingness, and it was the most relieving feeling ive ever felt. i came to already cursing out the paramedics "you fucking bastards why ??? WHYY!!?? fuck you!" kinda thing - but already halfway through my ramble when i came to..... also contact with dead loved ones, precognitive dreams, intense lucid symbolic dreams, meeting spirit gguides of sorts, and most interestingly a dream (after another very powerful dream) i slowly faded in to a white space and heard a booming voice say something along the lines of "ancient healing grounds, sacred medicine dream" or something of the sort... then i was in a white space, dancing a ritual dance around a fire, with three beings made of llight in a wwhite void like space, but different than the void i previously experienced, and i got the sense that i EITHER had dreamed this dream thousands of thousands of thousands of times OR i am always and constantly dancing this ritual dance.... very ppowerfull stuff.

I cant remember exactly when i knew for certain there was llife after death but i assume it was around the time i experienced the first void... although i identified the fact i was having precognnitive dreams pretty young... it always takes a long process of assessing and testing the facts and data at hand before ic ome to a for sure decision.
