In other words, does the evolutionary energy of the North Node always lead to becoming more aligned with creation via union with Kether, or can it also signify the opposite, Individuation by way of ascending the Qliphoth?

The lunar nodes simply indicate a person's karma. The southern one indicates what has already been completed, the northern one indicates what a person should learn. I don't think this has anything to do with the Sephiroth Tree or the Klippot Tree.
