Since the title says art and not paintings

These are the best for what seems self-evident reasons, like the Waterhouse.

Excellent choice! I love Waterhouse, he is truly a wizard of the brush, and "The Magic Circle" is one of my personal favorites! Masterfully, he encapsulated the fascination emanating from this topic, especially the magical practice of Antiquity, with all its surrounding mystique. Waterhouse included so many details, the crows, the toad, the sickle in her hand, the patterns on her dress... it gives me the impression that he really invested some thought and research into the concept. I wonder if there is a background story to it? Is she a devotee to Hekate? Of which purpose is her doing?

In my personal "magical revival" this painting played a big role. I find it deeply inspiring. Immediately I have fallen in love with the sorceress! She seems so eager, serious and intent, but yet full of grace and style. For hours I could sit there in the distance, watching her weaving her magic, the romantic fool I am.
