Thank you for your thorough exampleAs understandable as your intentions are, I'm afraid the genuine practice of the "mental palace", or its denser counterpart the "astral temple", are tall orders with seriously demanding implications. In the pursuit of such skills, you would end up resolving any general weaknesses of memory in the process.
However, if you're sincerely interested in pursuing the higher goal of a mental library housed within your mental palace, then it is certainly possible with enough time and effort - but be warned, it can be a lengthy pursuit.
The foundation of these practices lie upon two important skills - the ability to deeply empty one's mind and effectively center one's self within the Fire region of the temporal Mental Body, or simply the "Conscious" principle, as I also like to call it, combined with a thoroughly-developed faculty of Imagination.
In other words, you must have proficiency with "Void/Vacancy" meditation and a strong development with the 5 mental-physical senses, especially visualization.
The latter part of that foundation is nearly impossible to develop without the former, hence why they need to be developed in order.
Properly building this foundation will naturally result in the development of an eidetic and eventually photographic memory, given enough time and practice.
The Mental Palace, and subsequently the Astral Temple which is merely an extension of it, are both simply further applications of this fundamental mastery of the Imagination and the exponentially higher levels of memory-functioning that come in tandem.
One may attempt to partake in such practices without the conscientious development mentioned here with limited or varying degrees of success, determined by the inherent degree of development said individual already possesses, but for those that wish for a reliable and effective practice from top-to-bottom regardless of their original disposition, nothing less than this foundation will suffice, especially for those who wish to master these particular skills to their fullest.
