Can somebody give me some tips on staying up all night? I have to leave at 1 AM so what's the point of even sleeping at that point?

yeah, I can agree with that, but it really depends on how much I have. It really makes sleeping pointless when you have to wake up at two in the morning, but you go to bed at nine. I can't sleep in those small duration of time because then i go into a deep sleep and never wake up

What works for me is constant distraction

people who question the application of will can't get a quicker way to see how wrong they are
when they have to deny themselves priority functions like sleep.
it really does go from zero to a hundred when the zzzz's hit doesn't it?
lots of light. splash your face with cold water every now and then. place an alarm at regular intervals like 15 minutes
going out on a balcony or at the window works when it's cold, above all you need to be immersed in what you are doing
the masters knew that the place right before sleep is very good for thinking so almost all of them had trippy sleep cycles, one trick in particular
was to hold something like keys, and on the ground a plate or some such so that when you fell asleep for a second the loud noise would smack them awake and then they go work.
Sleeping in naps and minute intervals instead of 8 hours.
but overall, immersion, discomfort and shock (like cold water) if you overdose on caffeine you'll just be sleepy with a fast heartbeat.

just look at soldiers. One noise and they all jump up from the bleakest, most dead sleep like they got electrocuted.

All good ideas! At times Albert Einstein worked with just several naps per day mostly when he was teaching.

Stay up really late the night BEFORE the night you want to stay awake through. Then you should be able to sleep in the afternoon. That should throw off your sleep time badly enough that you can be raring to go at 1 A.M. Munch out on No-Doz, too. Try to be doing something intellectually stimulating.

Videogames make it very easy for me to stay up way past the point of sleepiness - something I have to have discipline around, but it's what I'd use in your shoes

Sleepiness is a feeling, you only Sleep or suffer from drowsiness if your state of being I'd chained to your physical experience. Pain tolerance training, dissassociative spiritual Alchemy, and just strengthening your self awareness. Sleep is a kind of cognitive disillusion, your mind literally melts away because you give up in the choice to "go to sleep", train at holding yourself and your awareness together through basic meditation practice. Remember that you never stop seeing, when you close your eyes you still are looking forward, just with a flesh blindfold on (your eyelids 🦉).

I dont fall asleep until I consciously choose to, when I wake up I never suffer from drowsiness, even when my cat wakes me in the middle of the night.

In the end you gotta choose what you let bother you and what you rise above. You're capable of anything, including an all-nighter, comes down to discipline.

Quarter/half dose of adderall every three hours, shot of coffee ever hour, small non-filling protein snacks throughout the night.

Thats when I have to keep alert for mentally taxing work. If not then just change up what you’re doing every 30 min - 1 hour to keep your mind engaged.

B-12 and a nap? Naps are not a bad thing either. Coffee. Or Black tea.
I worked with a lass who made espresso using strong black tea, not water. She had had chemical issues in the past, so I guess this was her "drug free" approximation. After a couple of demitasses of this, she looked and acted like a female Trent Reznor in the more violent parts of the "Perfect Drug" video 9-Inch Nails did. But she did easily stay awake for her graveyard shifts at work, which was the main thing. Eyes glowed and she trembled like a janissary's bowstring, but awake she was and awake she stayed.

So give it a whirl, if your heart is healthy. One caveat, it probably clogs up the espresso machine, using strong tea and not pure water.

Leonardo Divinci had a sleep schedule that consisted of like 2 hour naps spread out over 24hrs as well, you can find his schedule online I don’t remember it off the top of my head but it was estimated he was able to get years more worth of work down. 🤓

As for the OP… sit up straight don’t slouch, don’t get too comfortable be aware of your body, as others mentioned use cold water if need be, if you get too tired take a cold shower, plan stuff out, be sure you are ready, anything you may have been putting off, now is the time to get it done. Don’t get complacent.

Annnnd…. My advice is only 2 months last oops. 😅

Considering there is more caffeine in orange pekoe black cut tea than coffee beans, I can only imagine.

She was eminently imaginable in a young-Tori Amos-got-a-machete kind of way. Which FC factor needs to be considered when using stimulants to stay awake. FC: frying circuits. Alertness at the price of over-the-top angst is a dubious benefit.
