I am curious about the answers and will watch this thread, because I first did 4 years of magic with good results before I read for the first time something theoretic. After reading that book I did put it aside and had a few more years of doing magic. (I think learning styles can be different, but I first make space for posts from other people)
This resonates with me. I long thought I lacked theoretic knowledge and insights to practice. After much wandering and reading, I realised that the ways I was ("naturally") doing and cosidering lots of "mundane" stuffs were quite in tune with some lines of chaos magic. I had just been doing magic without recognizing it, and thinking this was not because I lacked all that theory.
So when I began to "practice", chaos magic appeared as quite a natural road, even as beginner.

I feel that, in many ways, theoretical knowledge is here to give context, thereby allowing for spot on practices. The context is not, to me, "unique", but has many shapes and faces, as do its inhabitants and concepts. This is one of the great value of magic in my opinion.

If we consider Chaos magic and New Thought to be similar or same, I did not have it click for me until I read Mitch Horowitz, then a lightbulb went off in my head and I was like "Oh, I get it." And I did. It's worked great since, but not before then. But I think anybody can "get" it at anytime. I just had a sour taste in my mouth from all the New Agers.

Neville Goddard would teach complete newbie normies NT ' manifestation' techniques. And successfully, btw:

And this is pretty much the opposite of dealing with the daimons of the grims, who have preferences all their own. It's totally about how your brain is wired. So finding what makes your own mind 'click' is key. It might be Chaos Magic sigils, or using New Thought: experiencing a scene just after the moment just after you get what you want, while speaking your personal magic incantation:

"Holyshitholyholyshit!! or "Alright, alright, alright."

Or use Verbis Diablo (the Word of the Devil) from Penny Dreadful. A made-up TV tongue from the same linguist who created Dothraki for Game of Thrones. Just fucking around here:

Ex nihilo, fractura mundi.
Ab intra, chaos surgit.
Non ordo, sed velle.
Fiat. Fiat. FACTUM EST.

Whatever is your "Well, that's awesome" language.

It’s like doing your first spell, will it work first time, or do I need to know everything about spells before I have success. With Chaos magic you just do it, which can be a good thing or a bad thing.

Any magic is complex and demands a serious approach; otherwise, there is no point in taking it up. This applies not only to chaos magic specifically, but to any other path as well. However, chaos magic is more practical and better suited to a 21st-century person than the “old ways.” IMHO

Personally, I embarked on this journey very recently, after educating myself about the older orders and vampirism. I will say that the power of chaos chooses you. Rather then you choosing it for yourself. It is not easy or for the faint of heart. And a good morality is eminent to peruse the forces of chaos initially. Being human comes with a lot of perks, we can swing side ways. The definition of good and evil. evolves as the practitioner evolves.

One thing, nothing is easy, nothing is as it seems. and the truth will revel it self only to those who are truly ready to endure, command and conjure the forces. I am not talking about reading books, learning from another human being. It is about the true power unleashes itself when you are ready to inculcate it fully. prepare yourself, and if you are capable. It will find you.
