Can someone help me to command a spirit.
Actually i know the name of the spirit, that's all.
In some sigil books, they talk about creating a sigil of the spirit and then bound it in a personnel ring.
I am trying to follow the instructions in these books but i want to know if this is sufficient.
Thanks
Knowing only the name of a spirit is usually
not sufficient.
In most traditional systems, the name is only one part of the work. Before trying to command, bind, or place a spirit in a ring, you would normally need to know much more: its nature, hierarchy, planetary or elemental correspondence, seal or sigil, office, temperament, proper authority under which it is approached, and the method of dismissal or license to depart.
A sigil or ring by itself does not automatically give control over a spirit. The ring is usually a
ritual vessel or point of contact, and it only has meaning inside a complete magical framework. Without the proper consecration, protection, authority, and clear relationship to the spirit, it may simply be symbolic, ineffective, or spiritually unsafe.
I would also be careful with the word “command.” In ceremonial traditions, spirits are not usually approached through personal ego alone. The magician acts under divine authority, within a consecrated space, with clear limits, prayers, names of power, and a specific purpose. Trying to “bind” a spirit only because you know its name can be reckless.
My advice would be:
Study the tradition your book belongs to first.
Identify the spirit properly.
Confirm whether the sigil is traditional or personally constructed.
Learn the full ritual structure, including protection and dismissal.
Do not attempt binding until you understand what the ring is meant to do.
Approach with respect, discipline, and clear spiritual authority.
So, no, I would not consider the name plus a handmade sigil to be enough. It may be a starting point for research, but it should not be treated as a complete method of command or binding.
