• Hi guest! As you can see, the new Wizard Forums has been revived, and we are glad to have you visiting our site! However, it would be really helpful, both to you and us, if you registered on our website! Registering allows you to see all posts, and make posts yourself, which would be great if you could share your knowledge and opinions with us! You could also make posts to ask questions!

Curious as always.

Hello, most call me Bunny~ I've been interested in esoteric/gnostic/hermetic systems, high strangeness, & magic for as long as I can remember & am a collector of physical media (mostly books, though I also have a deep interest in films and occult relics) of these subjects. I tend to believe that the truth of things is hidden behind the veil of our human understanding but is not apart from us as I believe we are all fractured perspectives of the monad experiencing itself. Though it should be noted that I'm personally closer to a rootworker in my own private practice system.

I also feel it's important to note that I am autistic so communicating with others has always been a bit strange to me and I definitely find that I have a social battery that wears down faster with non spiritual or esoteric minded people. I've been a hermit for the better part of the past decade and am hoping to meet more like minded individuals to connect with.

I'm currently retaking notes on the nag hammadi texts as well as reading through some works by Alice Bailey and Torkom Saraydarian that I recently came across at a local bookstore I visit and am always looking for more recommendations in terms of obscure texts, belief systems, etc <3

Good evening, Bunny. There are some really good channels on YouTube that you can peruse for free (Botanicas, Hoodoo/Rootwork/Folk magic) and if you are interested in hard copy books I would look into authors like Sen Moise, Starr Casas and Jake Richards (there are many more but these were the ones that came immediately to mind). I had a copy of A Treatise on White Magic by Alice Bailey, ye gods, about 30 years ago now, but I just couldn't get into it, but I do have a copy of both Nag Hammadi and The Apocrypha; have you looked into the Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) in Translation (Betz)? Welcome to the group!

Welcome to WF!

I hope you will find many of the things that interest you here.

When it comes to YouTube channels, I can definitely recommend:

  1. Foolish Fish
  2. Esoterica
  3. Symbol Sage (has some interesting takes on symbols ranging from Alchemy sigils and many others)
  4. Glitch Bottle (great podcasts with various prominent occult figures like Dr. Stephen Skinner, David Rankine and many others)

May the Universe bless you

Thank you so much! I've watched Esoterica and Symbol Sage(I also watch a channel called Lifting The Lamp which I enjoy but rarely see referenced, it's a man whose often quite open about his experiences with the occult, rituals, crossing of the abyss etc) but the other two are unknown to me so I will most def be checking them out, it's very appreciated and may the blessings find you in turn <3

I'm not sure how I feel about Alice Bailey yet, but I'm often never sold on organized cult/occult orders, I find they always loose the plot somewhere along the line and become very...predictable? But I still respect them and find a lot of joy and knowledge found in learning them, and its hard to ignore a prominent woman's voice in the space when they are fewer than they should be. I love hard copy but I'm also very open and have a large collection of digital/pdf copies of books as well! Starr Casas was one of the first authors I picked up when I was younger and into voodoo before I found conjure/rootwork, she's a legend in her own right tbh! The other two aren't ringing bells so I'll definitely be looking into them! I'm mixed black so I've been really geared towards finding and collecting books by black women especially.

Nag Hammadi is some of my favorite texts they're really so so beautiful, same with the Apocrypha, the Papyri and the Picatrix (my most recent ancient first read through)!

Thank you so much for the greeting and for such a thoughtful reply, the energy is always appreciated <3

All wonderful suggestions, I just love Dr. Sledge's wit! I would also add Angela's Symposium with Dr. Angela Puca and Let's Talk Religion with Filip Holm to the list : )
