What do you think of Damo Mitchell’s work? How effective is his interpretation of Eastern teachings on working with the energy body?

While he himself isn't a Daoist, I know people who go through his school, and they have great results from the energetic practices he teaches. He's legit in that sense. He's a good introduction to Daoist alchemy, though I would personally prefer to have a more in-person teacher on these matters, but most of us don't live in mainland China, of course...

Thank you very much for your reply. It’s true that having an in-person teacher would be ideal. Unfortunately, since that’s not an option right now, I’m exploring other possibilities. I really like Damo, but it’s important to hear other opinions, even if they’re critical.

If the problems arose from practicing Eastern energy systems, perhaps you could consider him. Judging from his comments, he pays attention to this area to some extent. In a way, this already makes him slightly better than traditional practitioners native to China. Not all traditional practitioners encounter problems themselves; their knowledge and experience in this area largely come from their masters and classical texts. When dealing with some of the bizarre problems that arise in modern times, it's fine if traditional methods happen to work, but if they don't, these practitioners often have no good solutions. People who actively look into this issue generally either have experienced problems themselves in the past, or have a practical need for it in their teaching; otherwise, they rarely pay attention to it. Furthermore, just like a doctor who specializes in treating a specific condition, they will naturally see more patients of that type.

His teaching of Wu Xing is one of the more recent additions to my own tool set for helping others. Its simple, effective and even the most out of alignment or ill of us can do it. If you want to learn it, pick up heavenly streams.

I'm a relatively long-time student - or well, at least not a short term student anymore. I started with the online program and have since also done some live training. I can only give my strong recommendation for anyone interested in Daoist neigong - with perhaps the only caveat that Damo is not a teacher who is really wedded to the Daoist tradition itself with its various trappings, lineages, rituals, etc. That's not to say that this is an eclectic system, but if your main interest is traditional Daoism itself this may not be your cup of tea.

Yeah, that's actually one of my biggest issues with Damo is that he's admitted to not giving much of a crap about Daoism at all. However, a lot of his students have reported having legitimate results from his training. I find that disconnect from him a little odd... either you give credence to lineage/practices/etc. being a reality of yours or you don't. Why the hesitation?

That said, you see this in a lot of Westerners who don't want to go "all in" on these things. In some way, I kind of understand from a cultural level, but yeah...
