Do divination tools have inherent limitations?🤔

For instance, throughout my studies, I’ve often heard people say things like: "Oh, Tarot is better for understanding the state of a situation, while Lenormand is better at predicting the outcome!" I’m curious, have any of you come across similar claims?🤔

I think it comes down to the density of symbolism associated with any particular system. Most divination systems basically consist of random selection from a group of symbols and then (optionally) arranging them in a symbolic pattern.

The Tarot is particularly well liked because it has one of the richest symbol sets.

So I would say, the simpler the answer required, the simpler the system you should use.

I would agree. Lately I've been revisiting tarot and geomancy, which is sort of a re-introduction, and had a conversation with @therootbeersprite about some of her divination.

Geomancy is a blunt tool. It gets you a fairly binary sort of answer, well-defined question. It's constrained by 16 symbols.

Remote viewing, to me, is closer to this. Despite the free-form nature of the session and data, the question has to be very narrowly defined, and veering off of that question can cause problems.

Tarot is more fluid, more conversational. More symbols, more nuance, more opportunities.

Yeah i heard it a looot of this...

At the end of the day, they are PLAYING CARDS and people decided to make a whole system about them.

Honestly i trust more the ability of the practitionner to read through the symbol over a symbol blinding the reading of the practitionner.
