Do you listen to music while performing magic(k) or a ritual?

Let´s recommend some artists/bands of any genre to "get in the mood"!

Sometimes, usually just for bigger workings! If I'm working with a particular spirit or energy, sometimes I'll put on a song that was written with that spirit or energy in mind, easy example is Gustav Holst's "Planets Suite" which is an easy go-to if you're doing some sort of planetary invocation.

Other than that, you can put together a playlist of songs that sort of have the same "energy" as whatever you're trying to tap into, so something like playlist full of songs about getting rich if you're working on a money spell. I think the more you personally resonate with music in this way, the better, so it's not a bad thing to pick from your favorites.

If you want a specific band, Twin Temple has a fun musical sound and very occult lyrics that you can work with pretty easily, though it's a lot more Satanist than I am.

When I need a dark atmosphere, I listen to a band called Inade, especially their album Burning Flesh.

If I'm doing work related to angels or archangels, I might listen to Gregorian chants or even Psalms sung in the Gregorian style.
When I used to do Gallery of Magick workings, I would often listen to their albums (the ones by Zanna Blaise).

One song that has always stayed with me, and that I use whenever I do baneful magic, is If I Had a Heart by Fever Ray.

There have been several threads on this topic already (I think this one must be the oldest), just search the forum for 'music'. I used to be quite obsessed with this version of 'O Fortuna' once I found it:

O fortuna, followed by Diem ex Dei is really powerful combo... A ritual on itself, honestly.

I like dark ambient for my work, so CryoChamber for sure... Also Alan Ariza, Arcana, and maybe few others...

And for my vampiric workings I just love Nox Arcana...

For the way this song begins as though going through veils and appearing onto a spiritual shore after leaving the physical then goes into the chant with a march of determination to crescendo.

I use recordings of shamanic tambourines or, if I'm conducting a special ritual, African drums.
