Feeling "physically non-existent" after intense ritual work — Is this normal / severe ungroundedness?

Hi everyone,

Over the past period, I’ve been immersing myself deeply in occult practices and running multiple rituals. Recently, I’ve started experiencing a very specific and unusual sensation: a persistent feeling that I don't physically exist, or that I am completely detached from the material world/physical body.

It’s not just feeling distracted or spaced out; it literally feels like my physical presence has dissolved or become surreal, while my consciousness is somewhere else.

I wanted to ask the experienced practitioners here:

  1. Is this a common phase or side-effect when engaging in intensive ritual work?
  2. Is this simply extreme ungroundedness (lack of grounding), or something related to subtle body alignment?
  3. What grounding techniques, banishing routines, or practices do you recommend to anchor back into physical reality when this happens?
I’d really appreciate any insights, personal experiences, or practical advice.

Thanks!

Go to your doctor and check you have not had a mini-stroke in the right half of your brain. I am not kidding.

The symptoms you describe match up with those of people who have had right hemisphere brain lesions.
echoing the need for a doctor. this sort of derealization can also be a psychological stress response. OP, are you diagnosed (C)PTSD, or perhaps with any anxiety/panic disorders? I've known some people like that and they all describe similar feelings to what you're going through lasting between hours and days after a triggering incident. This feels an awful lot like one of those things where you'd be better served by medicine than magick.

I have experienced something vaguely similar but it was not ..... 'alarming' or 'concerning' , just different and the other factor is , I expect some type of consciousness change from that type of work . Also I have familiarity to altered and alternate states of consciousness .

But do follow the above advice first ; after you get a 'clear bill of health' on it I would be happy to talk with you about it regarding 'magical effects' .
