Many things work, if you have some skill, which can often be relative to your own energetic configuration.
I like to assume that people are aware of some skill, or have experiences, and begin down the path of discovery to find answers.
I also like to assume that many people are attempting to develop skills in areas where they will never succeed, because they are like fish that need water, and not birds with wings.
You have to find the things you resonate with and that compliment your nature.
So, no, not everything works for everyone equally, it doesn't work that way.
Even things that people feel "speak" to them on a deep level are not always the correct path for them.
Being uncertain, unclear, no commitment, not practicing, and many more 'un-s' can totally derail some practices.
People wish for a magic ring, or talisman, or a genie to come and just make it happen, all the time.
I do dream walking, usually without trying. I lucid dream, astral project, OOBE, sometimes seeing banal future events that come true. I can often accurately hear projected thoughts from others, so telepathy. I feel and know when people die, or are in trouble, but mainly those with deeper connections or emotional ties. I have also projected thoughts/feelings into others, manipulating at times, but usually to help or calm.
That is about the extent of what I do, even after many years of trying other things, meditating, practicing, etc.
So, accepting that this is me, and my skill level, and my lack of control, are all part of the process.
I have never had a medium type experience, and perhaps saw a ghost once in my life, and have experienced some kind of electric blue entity that may or may not have been a Jinn.
I have had the pleasure of communicating with some very skilled people, and have many notes on the successful results of many science tests.
All of it usually ties together in very interesting and sometimes complicated ways, and much of it has to do with altered states and energy flow.
There is also a whole lot of woo woo and hogwash, making it difficult to figure out many things for sure. Add that there is a large degree of mental health issues and wanna-be fakes, people charging money to teach that can't really do anything of value and could never prove it to anyone, and it has tarnished the entire scope of everything with this human cesspool nonsense.
Belligerent religions dominate and put fear into the gullible.
So you have to have thick skin, good critical thinking skills, and a certain amount of abandon to dive into these subjects.

I am not a qualified teacher or guide, I wouldn't even know where to start without knowing you personally. But sure, I can try to answer questions for you as I can.
Prayer, when it works (which can be rare), is actually a skill that not many people actually master or are capable of. If people were skilled at it, the chaos would be obvious. Intent or will can be directed at goals or objectives, and carried forward by personal energy / entities / other forces that either cooperate with it, or are commanded / forced to carry out the will. Those are then different areas of study, and subjects of much debate. Some of that is belief, which can have a power by itself (if this is your energy or skill), and some of that is related to how energy practices can work, if you are configured that way.
The philip experiment is a good example of how belief can be transformed into results. In my opinion, one woman had skill and used the group's energy to make everything happen. She could likely pray and get results.

There are also a lot of science studies on healing, distant intent, and what they can measure related to these practices.
I don't believe there is some sky Santa you can ask favors of that spends any time listening and being cooperative. Some people do, and pray away and believe in faith. They usually also pray to Saints in many belief systems, where these are likely egregore types of energy that people have prayed to for so long that they begin to take on an actual awareness. In many practices, they pray or communicate with ancestors, or other beings.

I'm all for doing the research into what is known, what has been checked by science, and the amazing results these supply. People have changed water crystals, for example, with intent, to the point that the difference becomes observable, giving 'holy water' some actual support. That doesn't mean that all priests can create holy water, or that the repeated prayers of priests have the same energy or power, it means that some people can and do influence the material world. It doesn't make all of the Catholic beliefs true, it just shows that someone, at some time, could influence water in a positive way, and claimed it was god's blessing. Catholics also use Frankincense during mass, which is a hallucinogen, go figure.

So, the difference is again the skill of the practitioner, and what they are energetically configured for. I could pray all day at things and never get anywhere because it is just not my thing, and I don't 'feel' it either. I do see the results, and that other people can do these things, and I accept that at face value, and try not to doubt the process. But you also have go figure that a whole lot of people are just bonkers and are wasting time and energy trying to do something they will never be good at, and many of them are just bonkers and will never recover that crack in their own foundation. How would you know whether or not you are good at prayer magic unless you try it out?

Beware of religions, because they are full of fundamentalists that have no power, no skill, and have shut down all critical thinking and accepted the brainwashing of a cult. They are mostly just lemmings, following some crooked and greedy abuser. I call them Cosplay Christians.

In my humble opinion, there is no power in repeating things over and over (some prayer systems) without the energetic connection, or the proper form of belief that can make things happen. This is usually some kind of altered state, or trance.
There is no altering or changing things without a proper connection to what some call will or intent, which is another way of saying that they have the proper energetic configuration to reach out and change things.

These are my thoughts and opinions, and you will find that most of us here are very opinionated, and none of us are likely totally correct.

You should show everyone some respect.

Most people aren’t going to tell you exactly what to avoid, what works, and what didn’t, because it can take them years and years to figure that out for themselves. Unless someone has actually signed up for the job of mentoring or teaching, they usually aren’t going to spend extra time breaking everything down for you. To do that properly, they’d have to take time to understand what works for you specifically, and then teach based on that.

I’ll use praying and meditating as an example. Meditation works for a lot of people, and I’m glad it helps them. I’ve tried it, and I just don’t respond to it the way others do. So in my practice, I don’t work with praying or meditating. And again, that doesn’t mean those things don’t work for other people.

You need to figure out what works for you. You can absolutely ask questions if something is unclear, but at the end of the day, what works for one person may not work for another.

I have heard many things about how absorbing energy has a specific feeling and or feelings. However, I have also heard many different variations of said feeling. The way I typically feel the absorption of energy depends on the type of energy. Neutral energy usually feels like a tingling...
