If it feels like someone would do anything to it, then I recommend washing it first I remember there's a specific wash for old clothes you buy in thrift store with the main intention of washing away the connection to it. I will look into it and recommend something actually, I don't remember if it is Draja or Judika Illes, but I remember that you can use 1/4th cup of baking soda or a cup full of salt and a cup full of baking soda to remove any attachment to it, alongside that I recommend following it up with fumigating it using frankincense and benzoin. After all of that you can throw it in the ocean/sea or just burn it so no remaining "personal connection".
