So my husbands family is actively hiring a witch to harm him and we have been dealing w that. Now he has suddenly out of nowhere "issues " which he has seen a doctor about to no avail. What could be the cause here, and how do I counter it knowing it's not a medical issue.?

I'm sorry if it's inappropriate, it's always mildly funny to me that people would pay someone out of spite to cause some vague misfortune.

If the problem is indeed the witch what I would do is find out what kind of power they're using and subvert it in some way. That being said, I'm kind of dramatic about those things and maybe some generic protection ritual is all you need. I honestly rarely see curse work that has much actual staying power, even the really sharp ones tend to be brittle. They are usually mostly fueled by unconscious participation on the receiving side and crumble once that's dealt with.

Of course it might be some kind of psychological issue, but still, the the awareness of being actively cursed certainly doesn't help on that front as well.

Often, knowing/assuming you've been hexed is enough for the hex to manifest. Personally, I would suggest a therapeutic approach, coupled with a cleansing/clearing spiritual bath for your husband (followed by warding), and a returning spell for the witch.

Binding the relatives might be a good idea, too.

You're best option is to hire a similar witch to help you. Hopefully one at least a bit more powerful than theirs. People who are not practitioners of magick, cannot compete at magick, with those who are. Thats why such professional witches exist. On top of that, at this point you are already losing the fight, so to speak, so coming back from a losing position is harder than preventing it in the first place.

Best of luck

My dude, folk magic is literally done by and for the folk. Anyone can do it.
How is the OP to determine the 'similarity' between practitioners? To guage their praxis or skill?
Sure, waste time trying to figure all that out, or take control instead.

Anyone can. And someone with decades of experience in folk magick will still destroy someone with hours or days of experience, ten times out of ten.

By hiring another witch from the area, going off of reputation, duh.
Sure, waste time trying to figure all that out, or take control instead.
🙄🙄
See my original point about non practitioners competing with practitioners

I feel like I must disagree. On a level field sure, an experienced practitioner will always have an overwhelming advantage but such one-sided interactions usually heavily favor defence.

@SkyKat look into Jason Miller's "Protection and Reversal Magick" and try to implement from it what you can, but you should look for somebody reputable in your culture and area to see if they can help you.
Good luck!

As for the discussion:
I'm mostly with @Mannimarco, we don't know how much interest OP has in learning magick in general and they are under fire now. Implementing defenses right away is good but who knows how able the attacker is and if it is enough. From the other post by OP the situation sounds like a pretty heavy curse.
