How do you develop the skills needed for performing a successful evocation?

Is the ability to evoke something that can be developed through daily practice like the GD daily rituals/IIH? Do i already have some degree of it, and the best way to improve is to evoke often?

I haven't practiced evocation but I suppose that it is the same as other ceremonial skills. This means visualisation and concentration, as well as trance. I think the daily rituals from GD are a great way to practise if you practise with the goal of improving every time you perform them. This means visualising a little better each time, concentrating a little harder.

Evoke often sounds like a good maxim for this. If you want to become better at evocations, do evocations. Probably it would be best to do so with a spirit that has no risk of harming you, like a tutelary spirit for example.

Depends on what you mean by a "successful evocation"? Do you mean a physical evocation where you can see the spirit in real time? Or do you mean an astral evocation where you can sense the spirit through your psychic senses (e.g. clairaudience, clairvoyance, etc)?

Or do you mean an evocation where you didn't sense or feel anything, but got successful results?

Without any reference to what your goal is, the answer will be different. For physical evocation, you need strong preparation and to-the-step adherence to the method you are using. For astral evocation, you need to work on your psychic senses and mental abilities. For successful results, it is strong intent and a good method. And even in these answers, you will get widely differing opinions.

It helps to read some books on evocation specifically and see the common points on what they say. This will be your best starting point.
