do you ever wonder how many deaths you've been indirectly responsible for? I often think about it. at my job I sometimes work at a hospital with patients who are elderly or are immunocompromised and a few weeks ago I came in to work after calling off the last few days because of a nasty cold/sinus infection and it made me think about the fact that my very presence could cause the death of someone in this place. not only that but how often in our life's do we go out in public with a cold or while sick and interact with someone that could get sick and die or spread the illness to someone else who could indirectly cause their death?

there are many more examples I can think of that are not just from being sick whether you are someone working on a car and unknowingly make a mistake that causes a car crash that results in a death. or if its words spoken or unspoken that effect someone so much which cause someone to take their own life?

one very specific example I've lived through in which I believe resulted in me indirectly killing someone was when I was growing "herbal medicine" in a secluded clearing in the woods near my house. at the time I was still very new to the practice and when I water the plants I would take water out of a small plastic pool that the ducks I had as pets at the time would swim around and poop in. id take the water and pour it directly over the plant itself instead of watering it at the base like I know I should have down now.

anyway, a day before I was going to harvest the plant someone came and stole it from the woods, I don't know who it was but I do know that if I was going to harvest and smoke it then the poop water I used to pour over the plant would most definitely result in me getting horribly sick. I also know if the person who did steal it intended to smoke the plant; they most assuredly got ill as well.

so how many people do you think you've indirectly killed through your actions? is there any specific examples you can think of?

I guess you're right. I suppose a better question is whether you think some action you have done has indirectly led to some one's death.

I saved a world from dying. Weird I have not even realized that fact I instead thought I'm not good enough. Felt awful always. But I have done more than enough. Your post made me realize that. I saved more than I could ever end.

A hypothetical situation. You walk down the street and see a friend on the opposite side of the street. You call out to him, wave your hand. When he sees you, he tries to run across the street in the wrong place and gets run over by a car. Are you to blame for his death? I don't think so. This man died due to his own carelessness. There was no need to run and break the rules of the road. He could easily walk to a pedestrian crossing or traffic light and cross to the opposite side of the street without any risk. This is not your fault.

Interesting question that I actually have a account for.

When I was 10 years old in the 1980s I went to a Summer Camp for 2 weeks.

It was just like a Camp from the old Friday the 13th movies and funny enough it actually was used in the filming of one of the sequels.

Anyway it actually had an on site Swimming Pool instead of a Lake and one day there was a kid who got in the deep end and didn’t actually know how to swim and started drowning.

Nobody either was noticing or they didn’t care but I mean he’s taking on/swallowing water and everything.

So my thought process was “okay this kid is gonna drown if I don’t get him”.

So I swam over as fast as I could and pulled
him out and by the time I had him on the concrete an adult ‘Lifeguard’ finally took over with the CPR and the kid made it.

I lost track of him in the next few years because he moved away but I did hear that in his early 20’s he had gotten married and had 2 kids.

Then a few years later I find out that all 4 of them had horrifically died by being burned alive in a house fire.

So potentially because of my actions instead of 1 person dying, 4 people died.

That really fucked with me for a while pardon my French.

For all I know that Woman would be alive today and have kids with someone else if not for me.

But I know my actions in the moment to save that kid were right so I don’t know what to do with it but file away under ‘Life is Chaos and nothing we do matters’… I mean other than it being a unique experience from person to person.

I really do believe that some people are just inherently cursed, or at least have some kind of deep rooted psychological thing going on that eventually brings the hammer down. You really can't do much to help them, and if you get too close by trying you risk getting caught up in the destruction.
