I know this is a 'me' problem, but everyone seems to use IMGUR for their images - which is not available in the UK. Are there any alternatives? I just get a big purple block saying "image not available in your area" or somesuch.

Actually, there is a band-aid solution for your problem (and anyone in the UK dealing with this). If you install a browser extension called LibRedirect you can make your browser automatically redirect you to a Rimgo instance, which is an Imgur frontend.

You'll want to make sure the extension is replacing embedded content for it to work, like this
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

I don't live in the UK so I used a VPN to put me there (connecting to imgur in this way actually makes the site spit out an "we're overloaded" error rather than the "content not available in your country" message for me, but still). With the extension enabled, the image may fail to load initially and look like this

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

In that case, you can right-click to forcibly load the image, which for me ends up loading the image.

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

If that doesn't work you may still be able to open it in a new tab form the context menu and see it that way.

There are plenty of other image hosts you can use with WF if you yourself want to upload images to WF. I don’t know what you expect me to do about other people using Imgur, though?

Googling, it seems to be self imposed by Imgur as a temporary measure. Hopefully you get it back soon enough.

Wonderful. I’ll move this thread to the technology section as there doesn’t seem to be any actual suggestion.

There are alternatives, just feed google or other search engine proper phrase for what do you seek... Like: "imgur alternatives"

Some of more valuable ones I upload to my DA account.

Now, of course, with my solution you still won't be able to upload to imgur this way, so you'll want to use some alternatives like catbox.moe or imbb.com.

There's a website called alternativeto.net that you can use to find more of them

While it might be temporary from Imgur, it is likely the groundwork for UK-compliant ID check laws. IMO, a VPN would be the workaround you want, not to jump from Imgur clone to Imgur clone until the gates finally close.

The world has suddenly gone mad. First Discord and the id checks. Maybe soon they'll be asking for your shoe size as well.:ROFLMAO:
Imgur too? 🤡

VPN is a solution, yes, but do some serious research about the one you're going to use. Some of them are really bad. Especially the free ones. I saw some security reports a few months ago. Use something reliable, known.
VPN+DNS, some might require manual configuration. Don't use weird free vpn browser extensions.
