When it comes to future predictions, it’s usually just one possible scenario. And the further out you go, the less realistic it is to assume nothing will change.
Or you get very specific predictions that do come true—but it’s unclear what you’re supposed to do with that information.
For example, I once told a colleague: “Within a month, you’ll learn a secret about your partner that will change everything.”
A month later, she found out her partner had secretly bought an apartment. They broke up. She said the prediction came true—but what was the point? How is that actually useful?
Same with long-term predictions: someone is told years in advance they’ll receive a gift—who it’s from, what it is, even details about it. And yes, years later it happens exactly like that.
But again—so what? It doesn’t change anything. At best, it’s mildly interesting.
And I’m not even getting into self-fulfilling prophecy here.
