Does anyone ever create magickal decoys like witch bottles or poppets? What would you recommend?

Bottles are easier for me, so that's what I use.
I also prefer using opaque bottles (you can find some around Halloween). If it isn't naturally opaque, I'll just coat the inside with black wax to partially obscure the bottle as prep work or use some really old and runny paint. The school craft styled stuff (just squirt some in there and rotate the glass around. Top up if necessary but not too much). And just let it dry in a ventilated area. Doesn't matter if it's perfect.

Nail clippings to keep all the ingredients dry by preference. Spittle is another option, or some urine if you don't really care.
I mix salt, some bent needles and tangled black string or twine. Some dried spicy peppers and regular black pepper. Shaking that to really tangle up the ingredients together. You could also use something like lard if you really wanted to (expect that to be messy), and pour some black wax in there to keep it all together, shaking while adding the wax for a portion of time, and then just letting the wax really get into everything while holding the bottle still. I'll screw the lid back on and just let a separate candle's wax seal the bottle over. After tapping it a bunch with my fingers or shaking the bottle to energize it, I'll speak some chosen words and hide it somewhere safe so it remains undiscovered by anyone.
