Political Hindus do not believe that Wikipedia has entries on Islamic mythology and Christian mythology. They insist only Hindu history is called mythology. This is a bizzare belief.
Political Hindus insist Ram and Ganesha are historical figures. They want to attack those who say otherwise. By doing so, they are mimicking Muslims who kill anyone speaks "lies" about their beloved prophet. Such overreaction reveals lack of logic. Political Hindus want Hindus to be as illogical. Like feminists who mock bindi as patriarchy, but refer to hijab as "choice".
In political hindu history Ram conquered South India and Ganesha had plastic surgery. By saying so, they transform Buddha, Jesus and Muhammad from mythological into historical figures.
There is no historical evidence of Buddha no artifacts, only stories. Those "bones" of Buddha are matters of faith, not fact. Muhammad is messenger of God and Jesus is son of God ... but God is not a historical character and so ideas like prophet are not historical. They are mythological. Matters of faith. Not fact.
Rationalists, atheists, scientists are too lazy to understand that human culture is based on imagination. The following are imaginary concepts, like "god", that guides society Justice, Property, Money, Marriage, Nation. None of these are "real". They exist because we are forced to accept it using violence, laws and stories.
Justice does not exist in nature. No animal calculates fairness. Justice is a human invention, born of the calculating mind that measures what you have against what I have and calls the gap oppression. From here comes equality too. And jealousy.
Property does not exist in nature either. "This land is mine" is a sentence, not a fact. The only thing that has ever held land is force. Law was invented to protect those who cannot hold land with weapons, but any powerful state can still take land with weapons, law or no law. Which means property, at its root, is violence wearing a deed. Anyone who says he has property is a violent person. Tell that to your stupid vegetarian friends. That is why those who promoted vegetarians were naked monks - they gave up all property as property is violence. Not real. A delusion.
Take away the imagination and you are left with nature. And nature runs on real meritocracy: the strong survive, the weak do not, and nobody arrives to help you. No reservations. No inheritance. No mercy. In Hindu terms, that is matsya nyaya, the law of the fish, the big eating the small. Meritocracy, taken to its natural end, is jungle law. Dharma exists specifically to resist it.
Everything we call civilisation is built on nepotism. Passing property to your children is nepotism. What makes a child worthy of what the parent earned, other than blood? Inheritance, legitimate son, adopted son, none of this exists in nature. It is pure invention. Property, inheritance, legitimate family are all imaginary concepts - that is why rules change from society to society. There is no universal concept of property or family.
This is exactly what the epics reveal, if you read them properly instead of worshipping them.
The Ramayana constructs the idea of the wife. "This is my wife, you shall not touch her" is not a law of nature. It is a rule invented to hold marriage together.
The Mahabharata goes further. It shows a man burning a forest, building a kingdom on the ash, calling it his own, then posing as the victim when someone else wants it too. He is not the victim. He is the arsonist who forgot he lit the fire.
Muslims believe their leader spoke to god and god told him how to eat, how to treat women and homosexuals. This story helps an entire community outsource responsibility. They have a rule book, a report card, and a strict teacher who can punish them after death. Chirstians believe this. Marxists imagine a world of equality that only exists in imagination. Woke people image a world without any "oppression" they want the jungle, where there is no judge, only predator and prey.
People who refer to mythology as fiction have low IQ. People who think mythology is history also have low IQ. They do not have capacity to understand symbols and metaphors. They don't understand how imagination mobilizes people. Imaginary ideas are transmitted as stories and ideologies in temples, in rituals, in festivals (using art and theatre) and political science departments (using speeches, arguments and policies).
