Obsidian mirror for evocations?

Hi, lately I’ve been hearing a lot of people talking about using obsidian mirrors for their evocations, and I bought a small one because I found it at a very good price and it’ll let me try it out for myself. I’d like to know if any of you have ever used these mirrors and what your results were. Thanks.

I’ve been working with the obsidian mirror since I opened the post, and honestly, it’s overwhelming — when you unfocus your eyes, it also makes them water after a while. I hadn’t had any results until today, when I was finally able to clearly see eyes — many eyes — watching.

Allow me: are they just 'eyes,' and did I truly see them or was it just imagination? And have my capabilities developed afterwards? I am very interested in interacting with you.

Obsidian Mirrors and other various form of reflecting objects are commonplace as scrying tools to commune with the spirit world. One prerequisite in nearly all traditions is the need to first consecrate the mirror prior to use generally in observance with specific lunar cycles.

the grimoire “The Book of Oberon” has a detailed consecration rite that may be worth consulting.

"I do not know how to thank you. We have similar rituals involving a physical fast for seven days and reading specific incantations and invocations. It yields very good results in the field of vision/scrying (al-Ruyā). I believe they are similar to the Western traditions, if not their very origin.

I find I 'see' easier when scrying astrally, In my astral form with physical eyes shut and lying down versus looking at a stone or mirror.
Would be interested in hearing people's plusses and minuses comparing each technique too

Ps my first Enochian scrying had a giant eyeball looking out of the crystal sphere at me. Terrifying back then

I did both: astrally, but much more often physical. Physically I learned myself to scry in every shiny thing or place that I could find, if I wanted. I learned that myself for the sake of learning.

The best experiences did I have on little lakes in the forests. Nowadays however I almost can't find here in the Netherlands places where I can do this without being disturbed by people and/or their dogs. An option that I want to mention is to take water from a lake, a river or a holy spring with you back home, take a dark colored bowl and put the water in it and see what the water has to tell you. Don't banish before. I never had good results with sea water. Someone brought me water from Lourdes as a present. That was both terrible and interesting because the water was in a bus for a lot of hours with chronically ill and disabled people. It seemed to absorbed it. I succesfully could describe 4 people of that bus before I got the feeling of being worn out.

Working with normal mirrors instead of obsidian worked fine too, but always after I cleared and banished.

I can scry when standing, while sitting, but I am not comfortable when lying down, so quite the opposite of you. It is even possible to scry when walking, but you need to find a good walking rhytm, need a secure step and a place where you are save.

On thing: if I do it physical I tend to see a blueish color in the very perifere of my sight. When doing it in astral projection, that perifere is more greenish. And I typically become a lot more tired when I do it in astral projection. I feel more vulnerable by then because of the feeling of being watched. When doing it physical I never had this feeling and it is much more a situation where I can controle things, which is more save. Could be because I am more skilled in the physical method.

"I believe that the Mandal (evocation circle) is the most refined method for interaction and clairvoyance. As a cognitive gift to you all: Beechwood is highly suitable for this work. Craft a hollowed piece of Beechwood large enough to house a black mirror—what we refer to as the 'Indian Mirror.' On the back of the mirror, engrave the 'Tearing of the Veil' (Kharq al-Hijab), the Words of Power, or your own sigil. After that, consecrate and fumigate it with the customary rituals. When you look into it, ensure your own face does not reflect back. Over time and through seclusion (Khalwa), you will witness profound things. Do not let yourself be swept away. Thank you all.
