[Tutorial] One way of using tarot cards for magick/spellwork

Informative post.
There are so many ways to incorporate them into magick. Many authors wrote about that subject.

My favorite way so far is the method published by Renee Janina in her book "Tarot Spells" and gen z-ed by Sasha Graham in "365 Tarot Spells"

The idea : the cards help for creative visualisation. You use them as a focal point to represent a goal, a target, a spirit, an influence, an idea.

You can focus one card or several.

There's no hard rule. You don't need advanced tarot skills to perform that kind of magick. The only meaning/correspodance to use is your own understanding and what the cards represent to you.

While staring your card(s), let the energy build inside of you and release it when it's time.

The visuals will not only help you to focus on a goal/target but also invoke the energy within you.

Example : Arthur is a chaos witch with a background in ceremonial magick and GD correspondances. He wants to send a blessing to his friend Max. Since his friend is a 30 yo Aries guy, he chooses the "Knight of Wands" as Significator. Arthur is a 20 yo Pisces guy, he picks the "Page of Cups" to represent himself. Finally, he decided to pick the "3 Wands" to call for the energy Max might need since this card is named "The Lord of Established Strength" and match Aries energy in GD system.

During the magick, he will focus on the 3 cards to help the energy to move from him, being shaped and directed to Max.

Astrid is a 20 yo chaos witch who works with her own symbolism, imagination, art abilities and life experience. She wants to send a blessing to Max too. She looks at all the cards and pick "The Star". She thinks and feels like the cards embodies what she wants to send for Max.

She will focus on that card while imagining Max instead of the woman in the card.

Both have two different associations in mind. While Arthur use elements from an established system in his choice of card, Astrid uses what the Star card evoke in her and will direct it to Max.

The basic way :

1) Pick the card(s)
2) Raise energy in your favorite way (in a circle, with breath, with music)
3) Look at the card(s). In your mind's eye, see your goal.
4) Let the energy be infused with your emotion.
5) Use a chant/and affirmation.
6) When you built up enough of energy, release it.

The spirit way :

1) Pick a card that fits the sprit you want to invoke/evoke. Also select a card that represent the goal
2) Stare at the card for the spirit you want to call for. Scan the card, think of what association makes sense to you.
3) Recreate it in your mind, focus on all the elements, sensations, feelings that link you to that spirit.
4) Breathe in the energy until you are charged.
5) Focus on the goal card.
6) Make a petition to the spirit/use a chant/say an affirmation.
7) Let the goal become clearer and clearer
8) Release the energy in the universe.
9) Remove the goal card.
10) Stare at the spirit card while sending back all excess of energy to the spirit. Thank him/give it a license of departure.

To go further :

You don't need other tools for that kind of magick but you can use anything that helps you to put yourself in the zone.

Remember, the cards here act as triggers/mental supports. They are a way to help you to focus and let your mind wander.

You can lay them to create a spread. Use it as a story that is happening.
