I want give my my sincerest thanks to Marquis Orias for bringing a friend back into my life with incredible haste.

To preface a bit, I've been working with several modern grimoires focused on demonic magick over the last year or two. Corwin Hargrove's Goetia Pathworking was the first, but my results with it have been fairly hit or miss. But today my biggest success comes through Winterfield's Demons of Magick.

I decided to perform the first rite, the "Petition for a Result". Choosing the right demon for my needs was more difficult than I thought. There's a lot of overlap in specialties pertaining to the heart and relationships. I ultimately decided on Orias, whom Demons of Magick ascribes the power:

"To change the mind and heart of a named individual, without any words being spoken to them."

Per the instructions, I wrote my desire as a present tense phrase on a piece of paper, via the coded alphabet in the book. I let it sit for roughly an hour then performed the Opening and Core Rituals. This is the point where I improvise bit, if only because the way this ritual is detailed towards the end is hard for me to follow.

1. Gazed at the Orias's sigil while repeating my desire, both in my mind and out loud.
2. Wrote Orias's name on the back of the petition slip, in the same coded alphabet as the petition statement.
3. Loosely folded the paper so the sentence can't be seen.
4. Touched Orias's sigil with the folded petition so as to cover it. Imagined the result happening.
5. Removed the petition and carefully burned it.
6. Gave the license to depart.

And that was it. The whole thing from start to finish took about an hour this morning. I got back to normal and had some breakfast, but I ended up going back sleep for several hours. It wasn't until nearly 6pm that I woke up again and I'm still felt pretty tired. Perhaps the ritual left me a little drained??

That's when I noticed an email notification from a few hours earlier. It was from my friend, who hasn't spoken to me in well over a year since our falling out. It wasn't a lengthy message and there was no mention of what happened, no misgivings. He was suddenly thinking of me and wanted to reach out. Right now I'm just letting the reality of what's happening sink in. Orias not only heard me and fulfilled my needs, he did so the same day I petitioned him. I haven't replied to my friend just yet, but Orias has given me the opportunity to reconnect with him again.

I want to note a few things about this experience, besides the wonderful result, that gave me some much needed insight for future workings.

Firstly, we've been friends for a few years now. However we've only ever been in contact online ( forums, email ). I've only known him by a nickname/username. It sounds strange but that's how we've always addressed each-other. In lieu of his real name I used his handle instead, and Orias was still able to discern him.

Secondly, Wintefield warns against making conditional offerings with demons in the book ( i.e. "I'll give you this if you do this for me" ). Any offerings should simply be gifts. You're told to imagine this offering during the petition ritual to give the demon a feel for it, but I did not. Orias still delivered, so it only felt right for me to acknowledge it for others to see. If you've never worked with Orias, let alone Demons of Magick, I highly recommend both.

Thank you, Marquis Orias.
