Hey WF community! First post here.

I've been wondering about the following ritual which I have used throughout my spiritual journey.

Short story:
Back in the day when I got involved with monastic practices I felt a very strong pull towards psalms. I started experimenting with the monastic rule where the entire psalm book is read daily. At that time I didn't know it was a prayer rule at all, I just made it a daily thing.
At first I felt a tickle on my forehead. Then at some point, maybe after 100 days, it caused a strange explosion like effect up in the third eye region and energies started flooding in even more. Then even more, and more. Increased the sensitivity to a level of x100 times of what I had before.

The ritual started giving me a very powerful sense of well being, through the whole mind, states of ecstasy, and all kinds of results started rolling in from everywhere as well, answers to requests. I thought that perhaps I had opened the third eye somewhat? Unlocked increased awareness or something?

What exactly goes on here? Does anybody know?

What happens on the spiritual plane when this long ritual is being done? I've seen the list of Shem HaMephorash and thought about it as something that connects you with the 72 angels?

Why is it so effective and powerful? I've worked with single psalms and read them hundreds of times at once and the effects are not even close to it.

What goes on in the head, the supreme states of wellbeing and ecstasy? The psalm reading seems to heat and cook the whole mind in a crazy way. Very intense and powerful effects.

From where does this ritual come from? Does anybody else use it here? Tell me about your experiences.

The only information that I have found is that people consider it to be very effective and that Jews do it at the Western Wall for 40 days. Also that some monastic orders use it as a prayer rule:rolleyes:

I switch between 3 methods. Calling them the 3 strategies. Full rounds, mixed and the same psalms method, choosing some 1-5 or more. Sometimes I switch between different psalm books to make it more interesting. Like this you can go on for a much longer period than a hundred days.

When you read them a lot, more and more strange stuff starts happening. It feels like the pineal gland or something heats up fully. There's a sensation of power flowing through you. The connection gets better when there are readings done daily, no matter which strategy. The other strategies don't have such a massive effect though but they keep the energies flowing and some effects going. After hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of rounds, the effects multiply over and over again. It reaches a point where you are high on energy all the time. Some permanent effects unlock as well. When you actively read them there are benefits following you around.

It gives you a really strong sensitivity to all energy work, everything goes through. I remember almost passing out when I first went to receive eucharist in a church. The effect carries over to all energy work but texts such as the Torah and the rest, New and Old testament give the strongest effects.

They do feel like spells for sure, yes. Keys that open something, frequency, a chest, something.
the method does remind me of a lot of a stuff specifically St Benedict in his Rules he talked about maintaining saying the 150 psalms at least once every week:

22 Certainly we would counsel anyone who perhaps finds this distribution of the psalms unsatisfactory to arrange whatever he judges better, 23 provided that he takes care in every case that the entire Psalter of one hundred and fifty psalms is sung each week, and that it always begins anew at the Night Office on Sunday.

24 For monks show themselves exceedingly lax in the service that they have vowed if, during the course of a week, they sing less than the entire Psalter with the usual canticles, 25 since we read that our holy fathers briskly accomplished in a single day what we lukewarm monks hope to achieve only in an entire week.

My Assumption is that saying the psalm 119 every "section" for 22 days does incur an alignment of sort, The other person who mentioned an explicit initiation into Psalms was Jean kent and Brother Moloch's preface in Jean's book, Book of Psalms:

You’ll note that the beginning of the text starts off with Psalm 119 with the entire 22 chapters which is based on the Hebrew alphabet or the basis of the Qabalah. This is by design not by accident or some printing error. He wishes you to become familiar with Psalm 119 so that the Qabalah is at least a little better understood. [...] We will start with Psalm 119 the longest Psalm in the Bible which is one of the most important ones. This Psalm has all the letters of the Jewish alphabet and is the foundation of the Kabbalah.

I did personally do Psalm 119 in ascending/descending form where I would reading Aleph, Aleph Bet, Aleph Bet Gimel everyday increasing it then decreasing it for 44 days. I found there's serenity and a sense of "power in one's words", you are more careful with what you say and you feel more weight to your words afterward.

I will definitely try the whole 150 psalms and get back to this thread if I get any new insight about it! Thank you so much for this thread @Amadeus ! Did take me a bit to get back to this thread and write all of this lol

Hey I wanted @Amadeus I found this psalm ritual on Reddit (read book of psalms in full every single one 150 in one sitting) one said do it for 40 days while others said how many times works best 7+ days well up to 30-40. They said it is spiritually over whelming for some and boy they weren’t lying ! I
would love to see links to that 👀 if mods allow it

I almost forgot this, @Amadeus your constant mention of heat and hot energy here:
I don't know why but the whole psalm reading method does this very fast. I remember teaching some people both the whole psalm reading and hesychasm and something happened within weeks, months. Something cracks open very fast, there's however a bigger problem, to be able to handle the effects after that, it's extremely hot, like burning sun, blazing fire. This takes quite a while, lots of spam is required.

remind me of this, Waddell, The Desert Fathers, p. 112:

There came to the abbot Joseph the abbot Lot, and said to him, “Father, according to my strength I keep a modest rule of prayer and fasting and meditation and quiet, and according to my strength I purge my imagination; what more must I do?” The old man, rising, held up his hands against the sky, and his fingers became like ten torches of fire, and he said, “If thou wilt, thou shalt be made wholly a flame.”

The Orthodox and Catholic monks go through the PS every week, during some special weeks twice. In some orders they all do it daily.

The Reddit posts are not hard to find. There are a few tutorials. Just basic Reddit search or google it with "site:reddit.com". One of the posts is from 7-8 years ago and the poster is inactive.

If you are doing the method, then aim for not just a day or two but a week, 2-3 or 40 days. The effects become very intense, special, unique. (y)

The heat is indeed very extreme. There's a fire all around you and above you. It burns so bright.

you mean like 150 psalm a week or every day 150 for a week up to 40 days? I will definitely try it and try some slight modification without reducing the number from 150 by seeing what my spirits say if they have something to interject about it or if there's something to do with it 👀 I have Jean Kent's Book of Psalms, very close to NOG bible alongside shemhamforash names where they relate with each psalm.

Book – PDF - Master book of Psalms – Jean Kent

Every day, all 150. There's something much more special about spamming the whole set daily. Very strong effects. This is very hard to put into words, the effects are mind blowing. You do have to do a lot of full 150's for the maximum.

Doing it weekly is not effective. Yes there's something but it's not enough.

For the most extreme effects you can try reading all 150 2x or 3x daily. Some days 1x, other days 2x 3x. One is enough though.

Yes Jean Kent and Anna Riva, I keep mixing them up. There are more, they all seem to have 4 letter names

There are many versions to choose from, the classic KJV, the new NKJV, TLV.. ESV. Lots more.
