Reverse or cancel a working?

Have been reading some of the GoM books and I'm pretty sure I saw a reversal for a working in one of the books for the workings in that book. I thought it was in the 72 Angels of Magick but I'm not seeing it now.

When any of you had a working that wasn't going about the way you intended, what were you able to do to reverse or cancel the working or evocation?

If you practiced one school of magick have you used a cancelation or reversal from a different branch and have it succeed? Without cancelling any other works in progress?

Anyone who says that this is possible fundamentally and seriously misunderstands magic. A word, once spoken, cannot be taken back. It will have always been said. In workings, the magician releases something from their own soul and sends it into the Unmanifest. If that's done properly, that energy will leave the magician forever. The magician no longer has control over what happens to it once released.

I would partially agree. While a word once spoken cannot be taken back, what is done can always be undone. Magick is about intent and belief. If you find a working to be going in a direction that doesn’t agree with I find breaking down the components and burning/burying or otherwise destroying them with the conscious thought of KNOWING it is undone generally works. Obviously depending on the Magical practice used for the working the process maybe more entailed but it’s possible.

I would also say you can't undo something once its been cast, but you can modify it by casting other workings to reduce or nullify the effect. Just be careful because things can backfire but it also depends on the magical practice you are using.

New Avatar Power has the Attack Cancellation Ritual.

That's right, because NAP is about commanding spirits. You can command them to attack, and you can use the Attack Cancellation Ritual to command them to stop attacking. It isn't a reversal, though, it's a cease-and-desist.

It's part of the NAP system, so I don't know if it would work outside of the system as a stand-alone spell, especially given that it uses a word of power.
