I haven't really read about runes beyond the descriptions in Raymond Buckland's book though I know that Donald Tyson at some point somewhere made a connection to the runes and the Major Arcana / planets and zodiacsigns, so I'm not 100% sure if this following idea is new, or if it is universally known already and presented with much more semi-authentic lore and allure somewhere else..
(maybe it's even brought up in Buckland's book and I forgot that I read it, but for the sake of entertainment I'll say it was revealed to me by the ghost of my great great grandfather Skabera der Weise during a meditation on Ansuz)
It is completely theoretical, but..
as there are 24 Runes in the old Futhark, and there are 24 Hours in the old Day
a relation between these two could be made. Then, a modern witch or anybody else who enjoys pagan flavours, could time a spell based on the letter / hour instead of using that cursed system of oppressing patriarchical planetary hours which only exists to keep us trapped in this false un-reality of the semi-urge and is preventing us from tapping into our true form and unleashing our potential and accessing our birthright and blabla..
The Vikings and Viqueens (apparently) divided the day in 8 parts, a wheel of the day just like the Wheel of the Year instead of (h)our way of measuring time. As the Futhark are already grouped into three “families” (o, by the way.. my uneducated brain wants to make “aett” sound like and therefore be the same as eight..) and so it might work in this way:

I have to say (for trans parents) that I do know / have seen the runic alphabet in its normal order around a circle. Never as amazing as this though..
The first 1/8th (the first three hours after sunrise.. F, H, T) would be suited for spells for either the acquiring / securing of goods, the bringing of misfortune (curses), and (self)confidence / developing of leadership skills.
The second (4,5 and 6 hours after sunrise with the runes U,N and B) for spells aimed at power, despair, and growth.
The third 1/8th (being midday and the three hours following it, with the runes Th, I and E) then are excellent for works of aggression, (undoing of) bindings, and progress.
The three hours leading up to sunset (with the runes A, J and M) suit rituals for divination, claiming reward, and (finding) partnership
The first three hours after sunset (with the runes R, Ei and L) when the evening has begun are the time for spells involving (any type of) travel, crossing over, and the subconscious.
The three hours leading up to midnight (with the letters K, P and I) are for rituals to see what is hidden, divination, and creating.
The seventh 1/8th (the three hours after midnight and the letters G, A, and D) somewhat combines the main themes of some of the other parts of the day, but the main idea suggests this is the best time to contact (your) spirits and ask them for and about protection. Here spells and rituals for establishing contact, defence, and insight can be performed.
The last three hours (with the letters W, S and O) are for works of positivity.
