When I say self initiation exercises or techniques I mean things that may resemble things to
exercise the will and are little challenges that one can do in nature or with other tools elsewhere -
like those I found in the fringe and cringe ONA pdf's that fly around on download pages:
At least I memorize two still, with one you find a proper spot in nature where you can lie undisturbed on a day with clear sky,
you lie down when it gets dark and look into the sky, not being allowed to move until the sky has turned blue again,
getting lost in the stars until there is no sense of body or separation left.
The second one was related to getting naked and lying down in a stream that allows for it in a form of ritual i forgot the specifics about.
These kind of remind me of Wim Hof's cold plunge and naked winter hiking challenges as much as it reminds me of the mind fucks Marina Abramovic
used in her performance art and later her method she teaches in workshops and so on.
I thought of exercises that may be comparable to those mentioned, for connecting with nature and out body deeply,
or to get deep inside ones mind, be as radical as you like, I'm that kind of person that thought of trying body suspension on psychedelics.
Only say things you mean and follow thru. If you say something treat it as fact - if you say it do it. Then accomplish the same thing with your thoughts.
Learn to fast.
Sit somewhere and do nothing. When your mind screams for stimulation continue to do nothing. Sit there until you can sit there and contently do nothing all by yourself. And I mean nothing, don’t let your mind wonder, don’t let it do anything. It will fight you every step of the way and sometimes even after you think you’ve wiped it it will again try to assert its “needs”. Out last it. Do nothing. Master yourself. Then pick up some simple exercises (tower, path, stairs leading downward, control center dial, whatever) and go exploring.

It sounds like you're wanting to do some form of meditation but to what end?
There's a few good introductions to meditation. In my opinion, they're all similar enough and the point is to become familiar with the base act of sitting still and clearing the mind.
I started with Aro Meditations "meditate by email" course for beginners. Its pretty good.

I have done both types ' self initiation' and ..... .... the 'other types' .
Fav self initiation ritual ? The one in the 'Maat Magick ' book ( requires serious dedication of each chakra though ... its fairly advanced thou ) .
Exercise the will and visualization ? There are those Golden dawn Tattwas meditation ( hold the image , then practice combinations )
like those I found in the fringe and cringe ONA pdf's that fly around on download pages:

Our property adjoins a river going through rainforest and farm land so I do that a lot . Even visitors from the city find relief ; a couple of hours lying in cool clear water , in or near rapids, flow around you .... carry your worries out to sea ! Or find rapids with a gravel bank that allows you to sit , find a whirlpool and sit in the middle ... all around is swirling, but you remain centered and still .

I suggest body training as well. It sounds counterintuitive but resent studies suggest that working out is the key for a healthy brain. So if you want a strong mind, you need a strong body.
Hypnosis/meditation/trance/ecstatic/chaos magick tech. The goal is to achieve, get comfortable with, and learn to control different levels and types of altered states.

To be honest I have not really thought much when I created this post spontaneously.
I just have an affinity for these mind-challenge things that inspire me -
Maybe I could create some more specific posts soon on each way of approaching things.
For example the shamanic and pre-farming existence of humankind that was way closer to nature and had much to do with what we see in the remaining tribes we have today, like dance and music and trance methods that bridge many things, no distinction between ritual and music and movement and play, with masks for example.
Or the more modern shamanic psychonaut challenges one can try, different things to enhance the 'pain' or effect of the challenge,
like a challenge for the body while enhancing perception with entheogens. Or just things that resemble challenges like a silent or darkness retreat, re-calibrating the senses.
Or using the bodies and natural supply with breathwork and challenges involving the cold for example.
I guess I was looking for intermediate challenges for the mind that are similar to some meditation techniques/monk challenges and alike, and maybe also some that take inspiration from occult order intitation rituals like for example the death and rebirth one that is common in freemasonry and other societies, embodying archetypes to shed ones skin to a degree with creating a thing to remeber that marks a before and after.
Maybe I should just sign up for parachuting lmao.
No but the more I think about it, maybe just exercises that allow to get anchored in the moment more deeply and strenghten the mind in a way,
like the mentioned abramovic method that often just uses simple rules that change behavior so much that the presence is enhanced.
Like walking super slow for an hour, staring at one color or thing for extended periods, counting lentils, drinking ayahuasca, hanging on hook suspensions, doing a long bicycle trip that is very challenging and so on.
Often the combination of simple rules do the trick, like fasting while doing something like that, or restricting some form of activity one normally uses for distraction.

In my personal experience I had some ideas to incorporate such challenges into my live to conquer myself so to speak.
For example when I wanted to overcome fear of rejection and judgement of others that are deeply ingrained into our evolutionary biology, I singed up for a door to door sales job - so I would face rejection non stop.
The same for when I noticed a slight fear of hights creeping in despite never having that - so I planned to get into climbing and search out the climbing halls that offer these climbing routes that are around 30m high.
It's about achieving a balance of mind and matter, a state of doing without attachment -
without thinking because there is no room for overthinking when you follow through with all that's in your mind.
In a way this bring the vertical spiritual part of being with the horizontal application in our 3d realm.
That may be the goal to strive for.
I am still interested in all suggestions that go into this challenging growth and expanding the mind and more directions

Pure simplicity .... love it !
Have you heard of the LIber NV ritual ? You just captured its essence .

Man I love that answer, thanks for the thelemite recommendations, I guess I should go deeper into it as it has this 20th century crossover nu metal approach to things hahah - I mean at the moment I'm more into Frater Acher's Daimon Trilogy that leads from the awakeing of the HGA or Daimon into planetary magick, that fits exactly what I want and need rn. And I'm very much interested in enochian and the true grimoire grimorium verum while also working a little with strenghtening the archangel workings and some angels of the moon houses things, ah you know how it is - and that's why I think that thelema somehow makes sense for me as it fits the mix - nice resources, thanks again!
So weird to realize we are all one while being confronted with archaic mindsets and toxic demographix all around,
feel free to add a little to your post, noice one :3

Do you mindgoing a little bit into the specifics of the approaches used in these workings or shall I just read sir?
Exercise/procedure that trains the mind and seem to fit with the earlier practices you mentioned in yourOP:
sitting in front of a tree, fixate your attention till you transmute in that tree, till your are in the tree, till you experience the tree from within, feeling the insects on your bark, the wind in the leaves, feel the warm side of the bark in the sun, the cold side of the bark on the shadow side, birds sitting on the branches, the roots in the soil etc... no visualising but transmuting. This can take hours. It is recalibrating all your senses, it is liberating. Trees are different, so after this tree you can try another one.
And a exercise with fire: put an object or a tarot card of your choice on the other side of a little campfire and stare for hours to that WITHOUT allowing the fire to take your attention or attachement. The fire will for certain try to connect you, but you have to resist that. You and the fire are not important anymore.
