Is there any form of spiritual power or energy you need to have in order to successfully carry out a spell, or any form of magic?

To elaborate Ill create a fake scenario. Let's say you want to cast a spell, and you have the steps to the spell you want to do. Would you need to have a built talent or ability for spell work in order to do successfully carry out the spell or would you just need to follow the spells steps accurately?

"Spiritual energy," which is really more of a functional category than the name of a specific thing, is certainly a factor in spell success, and any half-way decent long-term practitioner is engaged daily in practices to help build their "spiritual energy" in whatever way that is understood in their tradition or approach. That said, there are means that almost anyone can access to build the necessary energy for a simple spell. Whether this involves wanking to a sigil, dancing oneself into a frenzy, acquiring various specific spell ingredients, or a lengthy build-up of daily purifications and preparations, it is all very tradition dependent.

Good googly moogly!

For all that is holy, all that is unholy, and all that is in between; down with that wretched purple font!!! And that black font is near invisible on my phone.

…Anyway…

But to answer your question, all humans are also spirits so you don’t need an outside source of “energy” to accomplish some things but magic is also a skill/talent that needs to be practiced/strengthened to be improved.

I personally don't believe in the word "talent" as I think it erases the amount of effort thats required to master something like guitar, cooking, or magic. However in my experience amongst the occult community, meeting many different practitioners across traditions certain people do have a natural aptitude or ability that they seem to be born with. There are a few different esoteric and occult reasons for this, popular ideas about this type of person usually revolve around ancestry/bloodlines (comes from a line of psychics, witches, shaman, etc etc), ancestral curses or history (shares a name with a family that was either historically masons, accused of witchcraft, etc etc), or is specifically tied to reincarnation/life path (they developed their aptitude in a previous lifetime or are supposed to be doing magic).

Now whatever the reason for these people, they definitely do exist and are capable of very strange things that you can't necessarily train into. I find them to be more common amongst indigenous practices, female lead occult spaces, and the psychic/medium crowd as opposed to the high magic/ceremonial/chaos/pop occultism crowd.

I personally am not one of these people, although there might be a tinge of ancestral/reincarnation stuff happening in my own personal path, I started in magic as what I considered dull and insensitive. My aptitude and ability in magic came with years of study, practice, discernment, and discipline. And it is because of this I firmly believe that you do not need to be born with a natural aptitude in order to get good and world-breaking results, though the expression and path to that magic is very different from those who innately possess these skills.

My wife is one of these innate people, I am not. So she has a very difficult time understanding why I spend so much time meditating, the complex approaches I take to timing, developing sigils, and communicating with spirits when all she has to do is approach an altar on a whim and speak it into being.

There are a few key things that have to happen within the person in order to make a spell work, whether they are an innate magical practitioner or one that requires more intense training.
1.) Absolute unwavering belief
2.) Personal knowledge and understanding of inherent authority (this is not intellectual it is a deep knowing)
3.) Focused and clear intention

Everything surrounding this is a vehicle to get you to the results you want. Some people prefer intense theological and cosmological architectures surrounded by cryptic symbolism and dead languages while others just a simple pointed emotion expressed through an intentional outcome. Your journey isnt necessarily if you can do it, its the refinement of yourself and the skill.
