The word dimension is also poorly understood. You don't go anywhere else, you're simply closing one set of eyes and opening another. You look around the room with your material eyes, then you close them and look around the same room with your suprasensory eyes to discover an entirely different landscape because you see on a different bandwith beyond physical matter.
I am back in this topic after almost a year, forgot about the topic. This is indeed more how travelling from the one to another dimension seems to work and they have a overlap by this. The overlap feels every time a little bit different, but that is due to the timing of when your senses are opening to the other dimension.

I see in the OP things about astral combat. In one or another way I did not noticed it before, sorry. I never experienced combats in other dimensions, but I know others described it so I don't want to close my eyes for that possibility. It is described in books as well (Benandanti)

The irony is incredible. There could not be a finer person on this forum to disagree with that quote to prove it's validity. Praise Krishna, that got me laughing.
Well, then that means you're simply oblivious to the fact that one can 'seed' projections such that they can happen when asleep. Methods include actions before sleep transpires. Some people can translate Lucid Dreams into more clearly OBE experiences. Some of this stuff is published.

There's also practices that can have as their side effect OBEs from the sleep state.

You made a blanket statement from a position of ignorance, and your admitted single experience.

"Combat" in the astral has been such a non-issue across my experiences that it's honestly something I wouldn't even advise people to bother preparing for. I'm sure it's out there if you go looking for trouble, but fights generally aren't going to come to you unless you're seeking them out. Anyone expecting an astral battle where they're fighting off armies of demons with a sword is in for a lot of disappointment, since the most effective weapon there is just calmly pushing a spirit away.

I did used to have an unfriendly entity hanging around my house, most likely a thoughtform courtesy of an old church group I was part of that convinced themselves I was being haunted by a demon. It attacked me in the sense of conventional physical violence only once, across more OBEs than I can count. I got my ass kicked, because I was just passively letting it happen and felt no concern or drive to fight back. It didn't hurt or leave me injured, and from what I can tell the whole thing was a failed scare tactic rather than anything that could have actually hurt me.

Interactions that were unpleasant but not violent have gone the same way; I stayed unbothered about whatever was happening, and only even felt the need to leave if I decided there was something else I wanted to do. If the spirit was being especially annoying or persistent, pushing it out of the room became easy enough with minimal practice.

I don't tend to be a huge social butterfly trying to seek out people to talk to when I'm out of body, but the majority of spirits I've met were very benign and mostly just concerned with their own affairs. The typical pattern during interactions is that they'd be a little confused when I approached them, but not interested enough to question anything or try to stick around and make friends.

Ive learned the hard way that the astral plane is the in-between zone.
It is the no mans land, the grey zone, the sludge between layers.

Dont mistake the bus depot for the destination. And more importantly, realize what kind of people tend to hang out at bus stations. There is a lot of that in the astral.
